Job summary

Replacement Parts, Inc. seeks an Auto Parts Counter Sales II at our El Dorado, AR location.

In this full-time role, you will provide friendly over-the-counter sales, take in-person and phone orders, and support daily store operations for Bumper to Bumper Auto Parts. You will help customers find parts, make purchase recommendations, handle transactions, and assist with inventory and merchandise presentation.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent; GED pursuing encouraged.
• Three to four years automotive parts experience preferred.
• Ability to communicate with customers and interpret parts needs.

Responsibilities

• Provide courteous over-the-counter sales and assist customers in person and by phone.
• Identify parts, suggest options, and process cash or credit transactions.
• Help mentor junior staff and coordinate deliveries as needed.
• Maintain store appearance and assist with inventory and end-of-day tasks.
• Open/close store and support safety and policy compliance.

Job Description

The Counter Sales Level 2 provides friendly and courteous over-the-counter direct sales to customers, takes orders in-person and by phone, and supports the overall performance of the Bumper to Bumper Auto Parts store operations. Goes the extra mile to provide an energetic focus and promotion of sales programs as well as customer and team-oriented activities. Incentives may be available for their Sales activities, which can cover aftermarket automotive replacement parts, and may include the sale of heavy-duty parts, auto and industrial paint, and body shop supplies and equipment. May serve as mentor to junior Counter Salesperson and/or Delivery Driver.

Today, Replacement Parts, Inc. and Crow Burlingame is made up of a corporate staff, wholesale auto parts and automotive paint store locations, and our warehouse division, Parts Warehouse Inc. (PWI). We employ around 1,400 employees, in twelve (12) states, working at approximately 220 locations, all operating in the aftermarket automotive parts, paint, and heavy-duty parts business. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Consistently provides courteous, respectful, and kind conduct toward every employee and customer.
• Demonstrates an understanding of RPI store systems and processes.
• Displays an above average understanding of auto parts and is able to make recommendations to customers to meet their needs.
• Cooperate and coordinate well with coworkers and as a team member.
• Perform job duties in compliance with legal, regulatory, and Company safety guidelines, practices, and policies.
• Maintain neat, clean, and professional appearance.
• Provide exceptional customer service including assisting in determining parts needed, offering options to solve customer problems, and diffusing situations involving an upset or dissatisfied customer.
• Demonstrates willingness to partner with more experienced or higher level co-workers to help resolve issues and/or concerns quickly to meet customer demands.
• Research part’s availability through computer and catalogs for stock numbers, inventory status, and pricing.
• Willing to serve as a mentor to junior counter sales and/or delivery driver.
• Locate and pull parts for orders, check in, put up, straighten, dust, and rearrange stock as needed.
• Handle cash and credit transactions; properly invoice/credit customer accounts.
• Prioritize the order of delivery items and assign deliveries to drivers, if applicable.
• Correctly handle new and defective core returns from customers, insure proper customer credit and complete necessary paperwork.
• Open and/or close the store if given key holder responsibility.
• Work home store inventory/assist in other location’s inventory, if assigned.
• Clean (pick-up trash, sweep, mop, etc.) and maintain inside and outside of building area.
• Takes initiative to complete tasks and find additional work when finished with primary duties.
• May assist manager in completing end-of-day processing.
• Perform any other tasks as assigned.

Education and/or Experience

High School Diploma or equivalent experience or motivation to pursue a GED. Three to four years of professional automotive parts experience or over five years of hobbyist automotive parts experience preferred.

Language Skills

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of an organization.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have basic computer knowledge including web browsing and knowledge of Microsoft Office.

Valid driver's license (Class E required for all Missouri locations) and clean driving record.
