Position OverviewThis position reports directly to the store manager. Counter I is required to perform any or all duties of a General Store Staff as assigned by management (using a company provided vehicle to deliver or pick up parts and merchandise from company customers and vendors, handle incoming and outgoing merchandise in a timely manner, keep store and facility clean, safe, and organized), along with totaling bill, accepting payment, and providing excellent customer service in a retail store environment by performing the following duties:The primary job functions include, but are not limited to:Greet each customer in a timely manner and answer the telephone within three (3) ringsAnswer each customer’s questions regarding price, availability and function of merchandiseObtain merchandise from shelf for customer or receives any merchandise selected from shelf by customer and creates invoiceObtain merchandise requested by customer or receives merchandise selected by customerEnsure that each customer receives outstanding customer service by providing a friendly environment, which includes, greeting and acknowledging every customer, maintaining outstanding standards, solid product knowledge and all other components of customer serviceTotals price and tax on merchandise purchased by customer to determine billAccepts payment and makes changeWraps or bags merchandise for customersObtains signature on charge invoices and accepts payment and makes change on cash invoicesCorrectly places any special orders as required by customerBalances cash drawer at the end of the shift (if necessary)Stock shelves, counters, or tables with merchandiseSets up advertising displays or arranges merchandise on counters or tables to promote salesStamps, marks, or tags price on merchandiseBags or boxes orders accordinglyEnsure outgoing transfers are processed properly and timelyCleans shelves, counters, or tablesMaintains safe and clean work environment by keeping shelves, pallet area, and workstations neat; maintaining clean shipping supply area; complying with all OSHA and company safety procedures, rules, and regulationsMay have custodial duties including sweeping warehouse/showroom regularly, dusting shelves as needed, organizing merchandise, cleaning and stocking rest rooms as needed, and keeping all aisles clear with no merchandise on the floorPresent a good image of the company through proper dress and attitudeMust participate in and complete sponsored and supported trainingAttends training or uses electronic media to increase product knowledgePerforms other duties and assignments as directed by managementMaintain grounds and parking lotMaintain a satisfactory attendance record and appearanceThe skill requirements include, but are not limited to:Ability to work well with others and assist customer cooperatively and courteouslyExemplary company work recorded, including attendanceMust be able to work in a high paced, busy atmosphereRelated experience in the auto parts industry preferredMust be able to follow oral and written instructionsMust have basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication and divisionAbility to read and write in EnglishMust successfully complete background and criminal history checksMust pass a physical, human performance evaluation and a drug testGood understanding of and adherence to company policies and proceduresMust maintain regular and prompt attendanceAttitude that supports the Company’s goals and valuesEducation RequirementsHigh school diploma or general education degree (GED); or equivalent combination of education and experienceCertification RequirementsCompleted ASE counterman I training courseMeets all requirements to qualify for inclusion on AOC Approved Driver List#AL123
