Job summary

Arnold Oil Company is seeking a Counter II to support a busy retail environment. The role reports to the store manager and handles merchandise reception, billing, payments, and high-quality customer service in a fast-paced setting.

Primary duties include answering phones for invoicing, processing orders and transfers, handling cash, and maintaining accurate records. Candidates should have 1–3 years of related experience, a high school diploma, and ASE counterman certification for advancement.

Position Overview

Counter II is required to perform any or all duties as assigned by management and provide all services necessary for successful sales environment including, but not limited to obtaining or receiving merchandise, totaling bill, accepting payment, and providing excellent customer service in a retail store environment.

• Starting Pay Rate $20/Hour - Pay to commensurate with experience**

Primary Job Functions

The primary job functions include, but not limited to:

• Responsible for answering phones in order to facilitate the processing of all invoice billing and order collection with a high degree of accuracy and speed
• Responsible for insuring special orders and transfers that are generated are completed in a timely manner - Handle money from customers and make change if necessary
• Write customer credits, core and defect returns
• Removes and records amount of cash in register at end of shift
• Ensure that each customer receives outstanding customer service by providing a friendly environment which includes greeting and acknowledging every customer, maintaining outstanding standards, solid product knowledge, answering phone within three (3) rings, and all other components of customer service
• Process work orders, invoices and other paperwork requiring company procedural knowledge
• Be a key holder if necessary (Responsibilities include opening/closing of store, as required)
• Be an alarm code holder, knowing how to are/disarm the alarm system
• Be on the alarm call list
• Knowledge of Purchase Order, and Return to Vendor processes
• Be able to create Sales Transfers and receive Transfer Orders
• Minimal management skills as required by absence of management staff
• Help with overview and training of Counter I and General Store Staff employees
• Ensure all cores and defects are returned in a timely manner
• Process special order and other paperwork requiring Level 2 administrative clearance
• Present a good image of the company through proper dress and attire
• Must participate in and complete company sponsored and supported training
• Attend training or use printed media to increase product knowledge
• Assist store staff with superior knowledge of products and industry in order to access special merchandise
• Consistently a leader in sales, both in dollars and percentage
• Maintain a satisfactory attendance record and appearance
• Performs other duties and assignments as directed by management

Experience Requirements

One (1) to three (3) years related experience and/or training; or a combination of education and experience

Education Requirements

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or equivalent combination of education and experience

Certification Requirements

Complete and pass ASE counterman certification to be considered for advancement
