Job summary

ADESA is seeking an entry-level mechanic to support a high production shop. You will perform light mechanical work, inspect brakes, batteries, electrical systems, lighting, belts, fluids, and help with tires and general duties. Reports to the Mechanic Shop or manager.

Requirements include a high school diploma or GED and at least 6 months of automotive repair experience or trade school exposure, along with a valid driver's license and reliable attendance.

Qualifications

  • Must work well in a fast-paced shop environment.
  • Able to follow company operating procedures and safety rules.
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities are essential.

Responsibilities

  • Perform brake pad, rotor and fluid inspections.
  • Test and install vehicle batteries.
  • Check electrical charging systems and lighting.
  • Inspect engine belts, fluids, and replace oils/filters.
  • Maintain tires: pressure, rotation, patch/plug as needed, mount/balance.

Role and Team

As an entry level mechanic in our high production mechanic shop, you will support the mechanic shop by performing light mechanical work. This position reports to the Mechanic Shop or designated manager.

Responsibilities
  • Brake pad, rotor and fluid inspection
  • Battery test and installation
  • Electrical charging system check
  • Lighting systems inspection
  • Engine belt, fluid, and filter inspection and oil/filter replacement
  • Tire and wheel maintenance including air pressure check . Rotate and plug/patch. Replace, mount/balance as needed
  • Light mechanical repairs including fluids, filters, bulbs, wipers and more
  • Multi-point inspections
  • Learn preventative maintenance
  • Track and record vehicle information following department processes
  • Assist in overall general shop duties such as cleaning, driving, organizing vehicle parking and staging, etc.
  • Provide prompt and courteous service to internal and external customers. Maintain a professional appearance and neat work environment
  • Practice and promote teamwork at all times. Set a good personal example of attitude and performance

Qualifications
  • High School diploma or GED preferred
  • 6 months of experience in automotive repair or related trade school experience

  • Must be 18 years of age and have a valid driver’s license that meets the requirements
  • Able to safely drive a variety of make/model/sizes of vehicles
  • Regular, consistent and punctual attendance
