Job summary

Dejana Truck & Utility Equipment is seeking an Auto Install. Technician to perform truck upfits, fabricate, repair and install steel items and equipment. You will follow engineering specifications and production goals while maintaining quality and safety.

The role requires reading blueprints, meeting deadlines, and documenting work. On-the-job training, advancement opportunities, and comprehensive benefits are offered with this full-time position.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent.
  • Three-year related experience in manufacturing or technical school (preferred).
  • Truck fitting experience is a plus.
  • Knowledge and experience with 12-volt electrical wiring systems.
  • Mechanical and/or electrical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot routine issues.
  • Knowledge of MIG welding techniques and equipment preferred.
  • Must provide and maintain personal hand tools.
  • Ability to safely operate hand tools, power tools, and shop equipment.
  • Good vision for inspecting work and identifying defects.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble basic equipment and products under supervision following procedures.
  • Read, interpret and follow blueprints, diagrams, drawings and BOMs.
  • Meet production schedule deadlines set by Production Manager.
  • Perform quality checks to ensure standards.
  • Document work in a timely manner.
  • Communicate with supervisor about quality or procedure issues.
  • Rework or repair assembled equipment per engineering changes.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area.

HOW YOU WILL CONTRIBUTE

As an Auto Install. Technician you will be responsible for performing the upfit of trucks, as well as fabricate, repair, maintain and install steel items and equipment. The assembly must be completed according to the goals set by the Production Manager. You will do this by:

  • Assembling basic equipment and products under close supervision and in accordance with standard operating procedures.
  • Reading, interpreting and following basic blueprints, diagrams, engineering drawings, specifications, bill of materials, and other written instructions or procedures to accurately assemble equipment and products.
  • Meeting production schedule deadlines as designated by the Production Manager.
  • Performing quality work checks to ensure the product meets quality standards.
  • Identifying product defects and documenting them.
  • Performing all necessary documentation in a timely manner.
  • Conferring with supervisor regarding quality or procedure problems.
  • Reworking and/or repairing assembled equipment and products according to engineering specification changes.
  • Performing all work in accordance with quality standards and established safety procedures.
  • Maintaining a clean and safe work area.

WHAT THIS ROLE NEEDS

  • Must be able to maintain a high level of accuracy and attention to detail while working in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions, exercise sound judgment in resolving routine issues, and effectively manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Must be able to communicate professionally and effectively with supervisors, coworkers, and employees, both verbally and in writing, including by telephone, email, and other business communication methods.
  • Ability to retain and execute multiple assignments while following oral and written instructions.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently while meeting production and manufacturing deadlines.
  • Knowledge and experience with 12-volt electrical wiring systems.
  • Mechanical and/or electrical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve routine equipment-related issues.
  • Knowledge of MIG welding techniques and equipment preferred.
  • Must provide and maintain personal hand tools required to perform assigned duties.
  • Ability to safely operate hand tools, power tools, and related shop equipment.
  • Good vision for inspecting work, identifying defects, and performing detailed assembly and installation tasks.

Education & Experience:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent.
  • Three-year related experience (preferred but not mandatory) in a manufacturing environment or technical school.
  • Truck fitting experience is a plus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Most of the workday is spent standing and walking on concrete floors. Frequent bending, kneeling, reaching, pushing, pulling, and lifting are required. The ability to regularly lift and carry up to 50 pounds is required. Must be able to safely use hand tools and power tools and perform work requiring good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.

Must be able to stand, walk, and move around the production area for extended periods of time. Good vision and hearing are required to safely perform work and communicate with coworkers.

This position works indoors in a manufacturing and warehouse environment. Work is performed in production and installation areas and may require both sitting and standing throughout the day.

Temperatures may vary throughout the facility depending on the work area. Exposure to noise, dust, and other conditions commonly found in a manufacturing environment should be expected.
