Job summary

Cox Automotive Inc. is seeking a detail-oriented inspector to learn the inspection process and create accurate vehicle records to support daily operations.

Responsibilities include VIN verification, documenting damage and conditions, and data entry, with additional duties as needed such as jump-starting or moving vehicles. The role requires a valid driver's license, driving ability for both standard and automatic transmissions, and up to 90 days to obtain Inspector Certification.

Qualifications

  • A valid driver's license and safe driving record.
  • Ability to drive standard and automatic transmission vehicles.
  • Minimal knowledge of automotive body and mechanical work.
  • 1 year of body shop, mechanical, claims adjuster or estimating experience.
  • Experience in navigating handheld and other documentation devices.
  • Ability to pass Inspector Certification Exam within 90 days.

What You'l Do

  • Inspect vehicle equipment and options, documenting results such as damage, previous repairs, structural issues and missing or inoperable items.
  • Evaluate and record the exterior condition of vehicles, including but not limited to tires, frame, glass, body panels and mechanical components.
  • Document the interior condition of vehicles, including but not limited to seats, dashboard and vehicle options.
  • Complete and verify data entry.

  • Experience in navigating handheld and other documentation devices
  • Ability to pass Inspector Certification Exam within 90 days
Physical Requirements
  • Frequently required to crouch, bend and kneel to inspect sides and underside of vehicles.
  • Must be able to lift a hood or trunk and reach inside or underneath vehicles as needed.
  • Requires near-vision abilities to identify dings, scratches, paint work, hail damage, frame or unibody damage and other interior and exterior defects. Must be able to identify interior and exterior colors.
  • Ability to work effectively under various lighting conditions, including indoor and outdoor settings and natural and artificial light.
Schedule
  • Upon successful completion of training and Level I certification, the regular schedule will be Monday through Friday, 11:30 am - 8:00 pm.
Work Environment
  • This role involves frequent exposure to varying outdoor weather conditions.

USD 15.10 - 22.60 per hour

Compensation

Hourly pay rate is in the range of $15.10 - $22.60/hour. The hourly base rate may vary within the anticipated range based on factors such as the ultimate location of the position and the selected candidate's knowledge, skills, and abilities. Position may be eligible for additional compensation that may include commission (annual, monthly, etc.) and/or an incentive program.

Benefits

Employees are eligible to receive a minimum of sixteen hours of paid time off every month and seven paid holidays throughout the calendar year. Employees are also eligible for additional paid time off in the form of bereavement leave, time off to vote, jury duty leave, volunteer time off, military leave, and parental leave.
