Job Title: Auto Body Technician II
Department: Transportation
Reports to: Auto Body Supervisor
FLSA Status: Non- exempt

Summary: As a member of the Martin’s Family, the Auto Body Technician is primarily responsible for prepping and painting company vehicles, scissor and man lifts, and bakery equipment for painting. The Auto Body Technician is someone that has advanced working knowledge of the technical trade, maintains industry knowledge, who embraces a mindset of thorough planning and continuous improvement, and who is rigorously dedicated to extraordinary quality and service.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Checks and finalizes prep work before paint application to ensure it conforms to quality standards.

  • Exhibits comprehensive understanding of paint mixing system

  • Performs functional use of paint color match camera to achieve proper color match on vehicle.

  • Coordinates with Level 1 Technician to apply paint in overall, panel or touch up applications.

  • Exhibits proper use and maintenance of pressure pot and gravity fed spray guns.

  • Performs fabrication and welding of steel, aluminum, and stainless steel materials.

  • Repairs dent and rust using body filler and panels.

  • Applies spray polyester filler, primers and sealers.

  • Performs non-structural fiberglass repairs.

  • Coordinates with Level 1 Technician to refurbish scissor lifts and jacks from bakery and transport departments.

  • Prepares and paints equipment created by Fabrication Department.

  • Repairs or replaces trailer flooring and fabricate and weld rear door frames.

  • Coordinates with Level 1 Technician to set up trailer for exterior panel replacement.

  • Performs installation of door and roof decals

  • Performs gasket style windshield removal and replacements.

  • Exhibits basic wiring knowledge in regards to lights, power mirrors, windows and locks.

  • Keeps work area clean and in constant order.

  • Adheres to safety standards when working with toxic chemicals to remove decals from vehicles, mix paint, and clean paint from painting apparatus.

  • Proficient to perform all Level 1duties as needed or assigned

Education and/or Experience:
  • High School Diploma or GED;

  • Associate’s Degree from two-year technical school in related field;

  • Three year related experience;

  • Or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills:

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to other employees of the organization.

Mathematical Skills:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

  • Basic knowledge of wiring.

  • Basic knowledge of ferrous and non-ferrous materials.
