Job summary

City Collision Inc. is seeking an Auto Body Technician to repair damaged vehicle body parts and restore them to original condition. The role emphasizes structural work and uses specialized tools to realign components.

You will work in a fast-paced shop, following estimates, communicating issues to management, and maintaining a safe, organized workspace with proper PPE.

Overview

The Auto Body Technician is responsible for repairing damaged vehicle body parts in accordance with company specifications, processes and time standards. The Auto Body Technician analyzes, assesses and fixes damaged vehicles and is skilled in repairing, replacing and refinishing outer body parts as well as internal automotive structures. There is a strong emphasis on structural and frame work.

Responsibilities
  • Repairs vehicles per estimate and according to established standards. Prepares vehicles for body repair work and restores bodywork to its original condition. This may include removing damaged parts and installing replacement parts using specialized tools to repair the damage and realign structural components.
  • Communicates with management regarding any additional repairs that may be needed on a customer’s vehicle and notifies management of any difficulties or problems that may prevent a quality job from being performed or cause a change in the promised completion/delivery time.
  • Maintains tools and equipment in good working order and operates all tools and equipment in a safe manner. Ensures that the work area is organized, clean and free of safety hazards.
  • Maintains and wears all required safety and health personal protective equipment, including eye protection.
  • Cooperates and assists other personnel in the repair and prepping of vehicles, often dependent upon schedule and area of expertise.
  • Understands, keeps abreast of and complies with federal, state and local regulations that affect body shop operations, such as hazardous waste disposal.
Qualifications
  • Must possess a High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Solid working knowledge of the processes, techniques and materials used in repairing automotive equipment with 1-3 years of experience in collision repair.
  • Extensive knowledge of vehicle structure to remove and replace damaged components (e.g., doors, windscreens, fenders).
  • Demonstration of safety precautions required in performing the work.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Ability to lift up to 35 pounds regularly and occasionally over 70 pounds.
  • Demonstrated agility, balance and coordination when climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling and working under precarious conditions.
  • Strong arm, hand and finger dexterity with capacity to reach, handle, and feel in tight confined spaces with limited visibility.
  • Ability to work in a high-performance, fast-paced production environment.
