The technician will receive Repair Orders, disassemble and reassemble vehicles, buff and paint, and ensure parts availability and proper documentation of repairs. A strong emphasis on quality, safety, and professional appearance is essential.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or the equivalent.
  • Proficient auto body repair skills.
  • Minimum 5 years experience.
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds repetitiously.
  • Must be flexible to kneel, bend, and stoop repeatedly to complete repairs.
  • Ability to collaborate with the public and with other collision center personnel.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient knowledge of dealership computer systems.
  • Must be a team player with integrity and professional appearance.

Job description

The Auto Body Technician is responsible for performing vehicle repair as assigned in accordance with dealer and factory standards. An Auto BodyTechnician is expected to perform quality work without direct or continual supervision and be able and willing to work on all work assigned to him/her.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
  • Receive Repair Orders from dispatcher on computer terminal.
  • Perform work as outlined on Repair Order with efficiency and accuracy, in accordance with dealership and factory standards.
  • Disassemble vehicles to repair broken or damaged parts and reassemble as deemed appropriate
  • Buff, clean, paint, and restore vehicles to pre-collision status
  • Communicate with Parts Department to obtain needed parts. Inform Shop Foreman or Team Leader if vehicle is down awaiting parts, and pursue special ordering of parts, if appropriate.
  • Save and tag parts if the job is under warranty or if requested by the customer.
  • Examine the vehicle to determine if additional safety or service work is required.
  • Inform Service Advisor immediately if additional work is needed, if work outlined is not needed, or if repairs cannot be completed within the time promised.
  • Diagnose cause of any malfunction and perform repair, if authorized by the customer.
  • Document work performed on each vehicle on the Repair Order using the concern, cause and correction format. State repair diagnosis/description as clearly as possible on your terminal, as this is what the customer will see and how the billing will be determined.
  • Maintain the workspace assigned in an organized and clean manner.
  • Produce quality work that displays pride of workmanship.
  • All other duties as assigned and/or necessary.
  • Attend training classes as directed by management.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High school diploma or the equivalent
  • Proficient auto body repair skills
  • Minimum 5 years experience
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds repetitiously throughout the day
  • Must be flexible enough to kneel, bend, and stoop repetitiously to complete vehicle repairs
  • Ability to collaborate with the public, sometimes with several customers at a time
  • Ability to collaborate with other collision center personnel
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficient knowledge of dealership computer systems
  • Must be a team player with impeccable honesty and integrity
  • Maintain a high level of professional personal appearance and conduct
