Job summary

School District of Lancaster is seeking a licensed Special Education teacher to deliver individualized instruction under IEPs and CERs. The role requires collaboration with staff and parents, strong communication, and ongoing professional development.

The candidate will assess student abilities, maintain records, and participate in multidisciplinary teams, with duties spanning planning, instruction, and coordination across the district.

Qualifications

• PA teacher certification is required.
• BA in Special Education is required.
• Teaching experience is preferred but may vary by vacancy.
• Strong verbal and written communication and motivational skills are essential.
• Ability to effectively communicate with, instruct, and work with students, staff and parents.
• Familiar with PA Special Education requirements.

Responsibilities

• Maintain good classroom organization, management and discipline.
• Develop and implement an individualized education program (IEP) and CER with staff and parents.
• Assess student abilities relative to goals using formal and informal assessments.
• Instruct classes as scheduled and meet different levels.
• Regularly communicate with parents and be available outside instructional hours.
• Maintain student records and required paperwork.
• Pursue ongoing professional growth opportunities.
• Plan assignments for teacher assistants and evaluate performance.
• Attend staff and department meetings.
• Work with general education staff to integrate students into activities and classes.
• Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings.
