Job summary

The Lansing School District is hiring a Specialized Assistant to help ensure the safety and success of students in their building, including many with disabilities. You will work closely with teachers to keep students engaged during lessons and communicate with families to support a positive, inclusive classroom environment.

Requirements include an Associate's Degree or 60 completed college credits and passing the ETS Paraprofessional Exam.

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree or 60 college credits required.
• Proof of passing the ETS Paraprofessional Exam.
• Preferred RTI experience and IEP familiarity; goal to become a certified teacher.

Responsibilities

• Support students, especially those with disabilities, one-on-one and in small groups.
• Prioritize tasks as directed by teachers and school leaders.
• Ensure student safety on caseload and in classrooms.
• Incorporate feedback from leaders, colleagues, students, and PD sessions.
• Build relationships with students and parents to foster a welcoming learning environment.
• Perform other duties to support the district's mission.
