Job summary

Albemarle County Public Schools seeks a Special Education Assistant II for the Autism Base program at Henley Middle School for the 2026-27 school year. The role supports instructional programs, supervises and assists students with special needs, and helps implement IEP goals under teacher direction.

The aide provides data collection, behavior interventions, and coordination with school staff to ensure equitable opportunities and fidelity in interventions.

Qualifications

• Ability to develop and maintain an empathetic attitude toward disabled/handicapped students and support staff.
• Ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff to support IEP goals.
• CPR certification preferred or willing to obtain.

Responsibilities

• Maintains pleasant and orderly classroom environment and instructional materials.
• Assists students in completing tasks and following routines.
• Leads 1:1, small group, or whole class instruction under supervision.
• Supports with data collection, progress notes, and IEP goals.
• Provides transition and behavioral support; assists with data collection for progress monitoring.
• Performs clerical duties and helps coordinate with specialists and school staff.
