Job summary

ChildServe is seeking an Autism Day Program Aide to support children ages 2-6 in a play-based autism program. You will assist with daily care, help develop skills, and work with occupational, speech, and physical therapists to meet individualized care plans.

Position runs Monday–Friday with flexible hours between 7:30 AM and 6:00 PM. Pay starts at about $14/hour; location options include Johnston, Des Moines, Ames, Iowa City, and Cedar Rapids. Ability to lift up to 35 lbs is required.

Qualifications

• Two-year degree in human services or education preferred.
• Experience working with children with special healthcare needs preferred.
• Must pass background and safety checks prior to hire and every two years thereafter.
• Must be able to lift up to 35 lbs and be mobile within clinic areas.

Responsibilities

• Support children in achieving greater independence and school readiness through individualized care, learning, and play in a 1:3 ratio.
• Collaborate with therapists and team members to follow care plans and meet therapy goals.
• Maintain a safe, engaging environment while assisting with daily needs (feeding, diapering, toilet training).
• Document care accurately and communicate with families, staff, and partners.
