Job summary

Ohio Valley Electric Corporation seeks an Augmented Utility Operator for the Clifty Creek site. This contract role supports operations, including electro-static precipitators and fly ash conveyance systems, with responsibilities across equipment maintenance and light troubleshooting.

The role requires reading simple prints and specs, adherence to safety regulations, and ability to assist higher-classified workers. Clifty Creek location and shift-based duties apply.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Support fly ash removal and hopper clearance.
• Housekeeping of fly ash deck and associated areas.
• Clean river intake grills and maintain trash rake area.
• Replace accessible light bulbs as needed.
• Clean and lubricate assigned equipment.
• Assist employees of equal or higher classification.
• Maintain tools, equipment and work areas in order; clean after use.
• Report irregularities and abnormal conditions.
• Instruct and direct other workers as assigned.
• Adhere to operating instructions, safety rules, and procedures.
• Perform similar or less skilled work as required.

Augmented Utility Operator

Department: Operations

Employment Type: Contract

Location: Clifty Creek

Compensation: $26.62 / hour

Description

Perform on assigned shift, operating duties of a minor or routine nature, support operation of electro-static precipitators and fly ash conveyance systems, plant cleaning, assist workers of equal or higher classification in work pertaining to plant operation, as required and assigned, if qualified.

Expected to align personal goals with the Mission, Vision, and Values of OVEC/IKEC.

Key Responsibilities

• Support fly ash removal by clearing hoppers through manual and/or mechanical means.
• Fly ash deck housekeeping.
• When assigned, clean river intake grills and remove collected debris, maintain trash rake area in a clean and orderly condition.
• Make incidental and/or occasional replacement of accessible light bulbs.
• Clean and perform lubrication of assigned equipment.
• Assist employees of equal or higher classification.
• Maintain equipment, tools and work areas in a clean and orderly condition; clean equipment, tools and work areas after completion of job.
• Report irregularities and abnormal conditions.
• Instruct and direct the work of other employees assigned to assist in the work.
• Perform duties in accordance with operating instructions, safety regulations, and current practices.
• Perform similar or less skilled work, as assigned.
• Perform duties in accordance with all applicable federal and state safety laws and regulations, and all applicable company safety rules and operating procedures.

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise

• Through a combination of education and/or experience must have sufficient knowledge and skills to perform the duties and/or responsibilities listed above.
• Must hold a valid State Driver’s license.
• Must be familiar with the rules, safety practices and procedures applicable to the work. Must be able to learn the tools and equipment and their use as required in the work. Must be able to read, interpret and work from simple prints and specifications and have the ability to gain a working knowledge of OSHA, Environmental guidelines and plant property.

Job Benefits

This is a contract position, and the successful candidate will not be eligible for full-time benefits equivalent to that of a regular employee. However, as an augmented employee, the successful candidate will be eligible for:
