Job summary

The Jackson Laboratory in Bar Harbor, ME is seeking a Research Assistant II for the Auditory Neuroscience program. This role supports the Tarchini Lab's work on hair cell biology and hearing protection, with emphasis on dissection, surgeries, and functional assays.

You will work with mice, perform microdissection, ABR tests, fluorescence imaging, and data recording, contributing to a translational project funded by a grant.

Qualifications

• BS/BA in life sciences required or equivalent.
• Hands-on bench/lab experience, ideally with animal tissue or small animals.
• Reliable, organized, able to work with minimal supervision; team player.

Responsibilities

• Perform fine microdissection and short-term culture of adult mouse cochlear tissue.
• Carry out survival surgeries (inner ear injections, systemic drug delivery).
• Run auditory function tests (ABR) including after noise exposure.
• Use fluorescence microscopy to evaluate hair cell and stereocilia condition.
• Keep organized records and assist with data analysis.
