Job summary

The NYS Office for People With Developmental Disabilities is seeking an Auditor trainee through Auditor 1 to conduct data analysis, audits, and internal-control reviews as part of the Office of Audit Services in Albany, NY. You will review supporting work-papers, advise on audit protocols, and coordinate with senior management and external agencies.

The role offers progression from Auditor Trainee to full Auditor 1, with a salary range tied to state pay scales and a path to higher

Qualifications

• Open Competitive for Auditor Trainee 1: bachelor’s in accounting/auditing/taxation or 24 credits in those fields.
• Open Competitive for Auditor Trainee 2: bachelor’s in accounting/auditing/taxation or 24 credits plus 1 year of relevant experience or a master’s degree.
• Open Competitive for Auditor 1: bachelor’s degree or 24 credits plus 2 years of experience, or master’s degree plus 1 year, or NY CPA license.
• Note: courses like business law/economics/finance may not count toward the 24 credits.

Responsibilities

• Review work-papers and cross-reference to draft reports.
• Inform supervisory staff of significant developments in QA reviews.
• Evaluate significance of material in audits and reviews.
• Assist with development and maintenance of audit tools and templates.
• Participate in meetings with OPWDD senior management and outside agencies.
• Ensure consistent application of audit protocols.
• Assist outsourced audits and annual audit planning.
