Job summary

Trueline Talent in Albuquerque, New Mexico is helping a well-established public accounting firm recruit an Auditor at multiple levels, from Audit Staff to Audit Manager, based on experience.

You will perform nonprofit and governmental audits, collaborate with clients and teammates, and help ensure GAAP/GAAS compliance while delivering high-quality work on deadlines.

Travel to client sites across New Mexico may be required during audit season; CPA or progress toward licensure is a nice-to-have.

Responsibilities

  • Support and perform nonprofit and governmental financial statement audits.
  • Conduct fieldwork, testing, documentation, and reporting per engagement terms.
  • Ensure GAAP/GAAS compliance and applicable governmental standards.
  • Collaborate with clients and internal teams to keep engagements moving efficiently.
  • Assist with planning, review, and communication of audit findings.
  • Contribute during busy season and deliver high-quality work on deadlines.
  • Supervise junior staff and manage portions of engagements as experience allows.

Job description

Trueline's client, a well-established public accounting firm with a strong reputation in New Mexico, is seeking a Auditor to join their team in Albuquerque, New Mexico. This role is open to professionals at multiple levels, from Audit Staff to Audit Manager, depending on experience and fit. It's a strong opportunity for an audit professional who wants meaningful nonprofit and governmental audit work, a collaborative team environment, and the flexibility and support of an employee-focused CPA firm.

What You'll Do as the Auditor:

  • Support and execute financial statement audits for nonprofit and governmental clients
  • Perform audit fieldwork, testing, documentation, and reporting in accordance with engagement requirements
  • Help ensure compliance with GAAP, GAAS, and applicable governmental auditing standards
  • Partner with clients and internal team members to keep engagements moving efficiently and accurately
  • Assist with planning, preparation, review support, and communication of audit findings
  • Contribute during audit season and help the team deliver high-quality work on deadline
  • Depending on experience level, supervise junior staff, manage portions of engagements, and support broader audit operations

Must-Haves as the Auditor:

  • Public accounting audit experience
  • Working knowledge of financial statement audit processes and audit documentation
  • Understanding of GAAP, GAAS, and general audit/compliance requirements
  • Strong communication, organization, and time management skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented, client-facing environment
  • Willingness to travel to client sites across New Mexico during audit season as needed

Nice-to-Haves as the Auditor:

  • Experience auditing nonprofit and/or governmental entities
  • CPA or progress toward CPA licensure
  • Experience with governmental auditing standards and related compliance work
  • Ability to take ownership of engagements or mentor junior team members, depending on level
  • Prior experience in a small to mid-sized public accounting firm environment
