Job summary

CBIZ in Boston seeks a driven accounting professional to supervise engagements across accounting, tax, and audit with a focus on quality and profitability. You will guide engagement teams, manage budgets, and mentor staff while developing client relationships and specialized expertise.

The role requires 3+ years in public accounting, supervisory experience, and a CPA consideration. Hybrid work structure and travel as needed are part of the package.

Qualifications

• Ability to manage deadlines, work on multiple assignments and prioritize each assignment as necessary.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate verbally and in writing throughout all levels of the organization, internally and externally.
• Proficient use of applicable technology.
• CPA candidates preferred.

Responsibilities

• Supervise all aspects of accounting, tax or audit engagements for clients including status updates to engagement managers and adhere to all quality control standards as required.
• Develop a thorough understanding of the client's business, contributing to the analysis and planning of client engagements.
• Adhere to engagement budget constraints and complete assigned tasks within the time requested, explain variances when needed.
• Achieve charge hour goals
• Review engagement team members' accounting, tax or auditing work: provide constructive review points
• Supervise and guide team members on engagements, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment
• Train and mentor engagement team members, supporting their technical and professional development
• Assist in the client billing process with Managers, Directors or Managing Directors
• Identify an industry or area of specialization and develop skills, knowledge and expertise in that area
• Leverage industry knowledge and business acumen blending cross serve opportunities into client engagements
• Participate in practice development activities, such as membership in qualified organizations, capable of referring potential engagements
• Execute administrative duties as assigned
• Additional responsibilities as assigned

Preferred Qualifications

• Construction accounting experience

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred in Accounting, Taxation or related field
• At least 3 years of experience in public accounting or related field
• 1 year supervisory experience
• CPA candidates preferred
• Ability to manage deadlines, work on multiple assignments and prioritize each assignment as necessary
• Demonstrated ability to communicate verbally and in writing throughout all levels of organization, both internally and externally
• Proficient use of applicable technology
• Must be able to travel based on client and business needs
