Whitley Penn is seeking an Audit Senior Associate to join our Fort Worth in-office team. Lead audits from planning to completion, build client relationships, and manage engagement expectations in a fast-growing firm.

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting; Master's degree preferred.
• CPA certification or CPA eligibility with certification in progress.
• Strong technical knowledge of GAAP and GAAS.
• Strong analytical and quantitative skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Must be highly dedicated with a positive attitude and a team player mindset.

Responsibilities

• Lead audit engagements from start to finish, including planning, executing, and ensuring deadlines are met.
• Build relationships with clients by understanding client operations and business objectives.
• Manage client deadline expectations, monitor performance against budget, and communicate status.
• Supervise, teach, and develop associates and interns, including review of work papers.
• Continuing development of knowledge of GAAS and auditing standards.
• Assist with business proposals, networking, and recruiting opportunities.

Position Details:

• Title: Senior Associate
• Classification: Full-time; Exempt
• Department: Audit
• Location: Fort Worth
• Office Expectations/Hours: Fully in-office/on client site; general work schedule is Monday – Friday, 8 hours/day between 8am to 5pm with overtime, as needed

What You Will Do

• Lead audit engagements from start to finish, including planning, executing, and ensuring deadlines are met
• Build relationships with clients by developing an understanding of client operations, processes, and business objectives; learn to apply this knowledge to enhance engagements, identify issues, and make recommendations for improvements
• Manage client deadline expectations, monitor actual performance against budget, and continually communicate engagement status to Managers
• Supervise, teach, and develop associates and interns, including delegation of assignments, detailed review of staff prepared work papers, and evaluating performance on engagements
• Continuously develop a comprehensive understanding of Generally Accepted Auditing Standards and how they apply to engagements
• Assist with business proposals, networking, and recruiting opportunities

What You Need to Get Here

• 2+ years of public accounting external audit experience
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting; Master's degree preferred
• CPA certification or CPA eligibility with certification in progress
• Strong technical knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and Generally Accepted Auditing Standards
• Strong analytical and quantitative skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Must be highly dedicated with a positive attitude and a team player who takes initiative and has an eagerness to learn and acquire new skills and knowledge
