Job summary

Texas State Auditor's Office is seeking an Audit Project Manager to oversee complex audits of state agencies, universities, and programs. You will direct day-to-day activities, supervise teams, and ensure audits meet GA/GAS standards within budgets and timelines.

The role is primarily in-office with limited telecommuting days; willing to travel up to 25% within Texas is required. Strong communication and leadership are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Public Administration, or related field (Master’s degree or relevant certification is a plus).
• CPA, CIA, or CISA certification strongly preferred.
• Minimum of 5-7 years of auditing experience, including at least 2 years in a managerial or project-management role in government.
• In-depth knowledge of GAGAS and ability to interpret state regulations.

Responsibilities

• Lead audit planning and risk assessment for projects.
• Develop audit strategies compliant with GAGAS.
• Set timelines, deliverables and milestones.
• Coordinate with stakeholders and supervise audit teams.
• Identify risks, noncompliance, fraud, or inefficiency in state programs.
