Job summary

Sikich LLP in Chicago/Naperville invites an Audit Manager to join our growing team. You will oversee multiple client engagements, plan and staff audits, review findings, and mentor staff while ensuring high-quality service and on-time delivery.

The role requires a BA/BS in Accounting or related field, 5+ years in public accounting, 3+ years leading teams, and strong US GAAP knowledge. Hybrid/remote options and strong benefits accompany this opportunity.

Qualifications

  • BA/BS Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • 5+ years of progressive public accounting background with management experience.
  • 3+ years leading teams and audit engagements.
  • Ability to manage multiple engagements and priorities in a fast-paced team environment.
  • Strong leadership, recruiting, training, and mentoring skills with excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills.
  • Strong computer skills including MS Office and audit prep software.
  • Strong technical accounting skills with proficiency in US GAAP and GAAS.
  • CPA certification or eligibility to sit is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee multiple client engagements and manage to budget.
  • Manage key components of audit engagements including strategy, planning, risk assessment, team management, and delivery of client service.
  • Provide thought leadership and recommendations on business processes and controls.
  • Perform detailed reviews of higher-risk areas for technical accuracy and evidence sufficiency.
  • Build and maintain relationships with client sponsors.
  • Develop people through supervising, coaching, and mentoring staff.
  • Conduct performance reviews and provide feedback.
  • Assist partners with generating new business opportunities and client networks.
  • Understand service offerings and identify opportunities to better serve clients.
  • Contribute to recruiting, retention, and training of audit professionals.
  • Ensure professional development through ongoing education.
  • Deliver exceptional client support both virtually and onsite.

Position Summary

Reporting to the Director , the Audit Manager will …

The Audit Manager will work closely with internal leadership & staff to ensure the timely completion off financial statement audits.This includes, but not limited to audit planning, walkthroughs, scheduling, review, & presentation of audit findings.Additionally, the audit manager will also play an active role in the training, development, & hiring of others.

What will you do in this role?
  • Oversee the efforts of multiple client engagements with the ability to manage to budget.
  • Manage key components of multiple audit engagements including strategy, planning, risk assessment, team management, and delivery of exceptional client service.
  • Provide thought leadership and insightful recommendations surrounding a broad range of complex issues related to business processes and controls by leveraging expertise and experience.
  • Perform a detailed review of higher-risk areas to ensure technical accuracy and completeness of the audit work, that sufficient and appropriate evidence is obtained, and conclusions are appropriate.
  • Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with key client sponsors.
  • Develop people through effectively supervising, coaching and mentoring all levels of staff.
  • Conduct performance reviews and contribute to performance feedback for all levels of staff.
  • Assist partners and senior leaders with generating new business opportunities and building client networks and relationships.
  • Understand our service offerings and actively identify opportunities to better serve clients.
  • Contribute to people initiatives including recruiting, retaining and training audit and assurance professionals.
  • Ensure professional development through ongoing education.
  • Deliver exceptional client support virtually and onsite as needed.
What do you need to succeed in this role?
  • BA/BS Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • 5+ years of progressive public accounting background with management experience.
  • 3+ years leading teams and audit engagements.
  • Ability to manage multiple engagement and competing priorities in a rapidly growing, fast-paced, interactive, results-based team environment.
  • Strong leadership, recruiting, training, and mentoring skills, coupled with excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills.
  • Strong computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and audit preparation software.
  • Strong technical accounting skills with proficiency in US GAAP and GAAS.
  • CPA certification or eligibility to sit is highly desirable.

In compliance with this state’s pay transparency laws, the salary range for this role is Min $ $106,502.27-Mid $131,250.37-Max $153,016.50 . This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on several factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location. Compensation ranges for roles in our Government Services pillar are determined by contract with the specific government agency Sikich is servicing
