Job summary

CLA Florida is hiring an Audit & Assurance Director or Manager to lead nonprofit engagements and related assurance work from one of our Florida offices (Naples, Fort Myers, Orlando, Lakeland, or Tampa). This in-office role requires CPA certification, 6+ years of public accounting experience, and strong leadership to guide a talented team serving nonprofit clients.

You will plan, supervise, and execute audits, manage client relationships, and ensure quality deliverables while fostering staff

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• Minimum of 6 years of public accounting experience with emphasis in financial statement preparation and audits.
• CPA license certification is required.
• Demonstrated leadership and ability to mentor a high-performing team.
• Strong problem-solving skills and client-focused mindset.

Responsibilities

• Plan, supervise, and control all phases of nonprofit and related audit engagements.
• Lead engagement planning, staffing, budgeting, and execution to maximize efficiency and value.
• Direct engagement progress and communicate major decisions to Principals.
• Develop, train, and mentor staff; evaluate performance and provide coaching.
• Oversee engagement letters, fees estimation, and client sign-off prior to start.
• Review internal controls and audit programs; present recommendations for approval.
• Monitor time budgets and deadlines; communicate progress and issues to the Engagement Principal.

CliftonLarsonAllen, LLP is hiring an Audit & Assurance Director or Manager to join CLA Florida’s Nonprofit team. In this role, you’ll do specialized work with our not for profit clients, in order to help them secure funding for their institutions and the services they provide to their local communities. This is an in office position based out of one of our Florida office locations: Naples, Fort Myers, Orlando, Lakeland, or Tampa.

How you’ll create opportunities in this Audit Director or Manager role:

• Assume responsibility for planning, supervising, and controlling all phases of the Firm’s Nonprofit and at times, other regulated industry clients as delegated by Principals.
• Assume in-charge responsibility; plan the timing, staffing and execution of assurance engagements to promote the most efficient operation and deliver value to our clients.
• Lead the decision-making process for assigned engagements/clients; keep the Engagement Principal fully informed of major decisions and the engagement progress.
• Develop a responsible and trained team through assistance in recruiting, planning assignments, resolving problems, providing direct consultation to staff, evaluating staff performance, and acting as an instructor or discussion leader in professional development programs.
• Supervise preparation of the engagement letter for approval by the Engagement Principal, discuss the nature and terms of the assignment with the client, estimate fees, and ensure client signs and returns the engagement letter prior to the start of the engagement.
• Evaluate internal controls and audit programs prepared by staff, revise as necessary, and present to the Engagement Principal for approval.
• Follow the engagement progress through monitoring time budgets and deadlines for adherence; communicate important developments to the Engagement Principal along with facts, conclusions, and recommendations; provide ongoing attention to
• client management; and prepare final client meetings.

What You Will Need

• You have a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• You have a minimum of 6 years of public accounting experience with emphasis in financial statement preparation and audits.
• CPA license certification is required.
