Northern Trust, a global leader in wealth management and asset services, is seeking an Audit Manager to conduct and document audits across Asset and Wealth Management. You will lead audit project teams, provide oversight of the engagement, and communicate results to management.

This hybrid role requires a four‑year degree and professional certification (CPA, CISA, CIA, ACA or ACCA) with 5+ years' financial services auditing experience. Salary range is $83,100 - $141,300 USD.

• Identify data analytics opportunities and assist in implementation.
• Perform validation of issues with testing and draft failure memos.

The Audit Manager is responsible for conducting and documenting audits across Asset and Wealth Management. This role leads audit project teams, which includes providing oversight to the audit team and communicating results of the engagement to management. The Audit Manager provides technical expertise and training to auditors within the engagement audit team and works closely with Senior Audit Managers to confirm the scope of the audit and to devise an appropriate testing approach to be performed during the engagement.

MAJOR DUTIES

• Operate independently
• Design and lead audit execution - one or two audits simultaneously
• Verify test steps aligned with controls
• Work on more complex audits
• Contribute on other engagements outside lead role
• Mentor/Coach junior staff

Planning

• Propose audit scope
• Lead (AIC) more complex audit projects
• Develop testing approach, RCTM, and RCM
• Complete planning documents
• Complete all sections of PQ
• Hold budget meetings
• Delegate tests
• Lead walkthroughs, planning meetings

Fieldwork

• Responsible for ensuring audit engagement is meeting deadlines
• Complete highest complexity testing;
• Lead discussions with stakeholders on testing findings
• Perform L1 reviews on low to moderate complexity tests
• Challenge issues, propose root cause

Reporting

• Draft issues
• Draft report (including executive summary)

Data Analytics

• Identify more complex DA opportunities and assist in implementation

Issue Validation

• Performs testing
• Draft failure memo

Knowledge/Skills

• Demonstrates professional skepticism and comfort with questioning how certain processes are being performed in order to facilitate making improvements.
• Knowledge of audit/ accounting principles usually obtained through related work experience and a four year degree program in related subject area
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills - including effective business writing and presentation skills.
• Have a professional certification (e.g. CPA, CISA, CIA, ACA, ACCA)

Experience

• A College or University degree and 5+ years related work experience (auditing experience in a financial institution is preferred).

Working Model

Salary Range

$83,100 - 141,300 USD

Salary range is a good faith estimate of base pay.
