Qualifications

  • Strong understanding of IT controls, federal compliance frameworks, risk registers, and governance practices.

Audit Coordination and Management Lead

The ideal candidate is an organized and solutions-oriented audit and compliance professional with experience supporting federal audit activities in complex technology environments. This individual excels at coordinating stakeholders, managing documentation, tracking remediation, and helping teams stay audit-ready through strong communication, structure, and follow-through.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Plan, coordinate, and oversee audit-related activities across enterprise systems and stakeholder groups.
  • Support internal and external audit efforts by organizing timelines, responsibilities, documentation, and communications.
  • Collect, validate, track, and manage audit artifacts to help ensure quality, consistency, and timely submission.
  • Coordinate meetings between auditors, leadership, and stakeholders and support follow-up actions as needed.
  • Review audit findings, support management responses, and track remediation through POA&M activities.
  • Maintain dashboards, reporting tools, SOPs, and process documentation that strengthen audit readiness and governance maturity.
  • Support lessons learned and continuous improvement efforts following audit activities.
Work Experience and Job Skills:
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience supporting audit coordination, compliance, governance, or IT security documentation activities.
  • Experience supporting federal audits such as OMB A-123, OIG SOC 1/FISMA, FISCAM, GAO, or similar oversight activities.
  • Strong understanding of IT controls, federal compliance frameworks, risk registers, and enterprise governance practices.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and executive-briefing skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent audits, deadlines, and cross-functional stakeholder relationships.
Education:
  • Bachelor's Degree is required. Preferred field of study in Information Systems, Cybersecurity, Business Administration, Public Administration, Accounting, or related field of study.
  • Master's Degree in a relevant field of study preferred.
Certificates, Licenses and Registrations:
  • Desired certifications include CISA, CISM, CISSP, ISO 9001, and Security+.
Communication Skills:
  • Excellent verbal and written skills, ability to present proposals and performance data, comfortable interfacing all levels of organization.
  • Ability to write clear and concise creative content in a highly confidential manner.
  • Ability to translate technical, operational, and compliance-related information into clear messaging for executive, technical, and non-technical audiences.
Clearance Requirements:
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.
Travel:
  • Work under this task order is expected to be performed primarily remotely at the contractor's non-Federally controlled facility.
  • Key personnel are expected to work onsite in Bethesda, Maryland two days per week, with onsite schedules and working hours subject to approval by Federal staff.
  • Additional onsite meetings or temporary support within Federally controlled facilities may be required based on program needs.
Environmental Requirements:
  • Mainly a routine office environment.
  • May be required to lift up to ten (10) pounds
  • Flexible in working extended hours
