Audit Attorney – Chicago Office

We are looking for a licensed attorney with a minimum of 5 years of corporate experience, including responding to audit requests, to manage the firm’s audit process. This hybrid role focuses on reviewing financial records, legal documents, and compliance reports, and coordinating responses to external auditors while maintaining confidentiality and attorney‑client privilege.

Essential Functions

• Review audit requests, determine billing, review timekeepers’ records, and gather necessary documents (legal files, corporate records, SEC filings, etc.) to complete audits.
• Communicate with accountants, clients, the firm’s Audit Committee, General Counsel’s office, billing, and timekeepers regarding audit specifics.
• Use iManage, InTapp, and other software to create audit request forms and notations, working with various departments to collect information and monitor responses for corrections and testing.
• Monitor timekeeper responses, revise content as needed, and obtain clarification or additional information.
• Draft and revise audit letters in compliance with the firm’s risk/audit letter policies and procedures.
• Collaborate with relationship and reviewing attorneys to finalize and send audit responses.
• Assist with other matters as requested by the Corporate and Securities Practice Group.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of corporate experience, including audit response.
• JD from an ABA‑accredited law school.
• Active license in Illinois, New York, or Ohio.
• Strong familiarity with the audit process from start to finish.
• Proficiency in iManage, InTapp, or similar programs and MS Office.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Strong organizational and task prioritization abilities.

Salary range: $102,000 to $140,000 per year.
