NextPlay Jobs in Maitland/Orlando area is seeking an Audit Associate to join its growing audit and assurance team. This on-site role offers hands-on audit experience and exposure to clients within a smaller CPA environment.

The candidate should have 1-2 years of audit experience (or up to 4 years for graduates) and possess a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. CPA credentials are a plus, with opportunities to advance to lead engagements.

  • Approximately 0-4 years of professional experience, with 1-2 years of audit ideal.
  • Recent accounting graduates encouraged to apply.

  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to communicate professionally with clients and colleagues.
  • On-site, collaborative environment in the Orlando area.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with planning and performing financial statement audits, reviews, and compilations.
  • Execute audit procedures and perform substantive testing.
  • Test and document internal controls.
  • Analyze account balances, financial statements, and supporting documentation.
  • Prepare clear, accurate, and organized audit workpapers.
  • Assist with drafting audit findings, recommendations, and client deliverables.
  • Communicate with clients to obtain documentation and resolve questions.
  • Work with partners and audit team throughout engagements.
  • Manage multiple assignments and deadlines during busy periods.
  • Grow towards leading engagements over time.
  • Assist with tax-related work as needed.

About the Opportunity

We are partnering with an established public accounting firm in the Orlando area to hire an Audit Associate to join its growing audit and assurance team.

This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career accounting professional who wants hands‑on audit experience, direct exposure to clients, and the opportunity to grow into leading engagements. The firm offers the close‑knit environment of a smaller CPA practice, where team members have the opportunity to take on meaningful responsibility and develop their skills without getting lost in a large organization.

The ideal candidate will have 1-2 years of audit experience, although recent accounting graduates and candidates with up to four years of experience will also be considered.

What You'll Do
  • Assist with planning and performing financial statement audits, reviews, and compilations

  • Assist with tax-related work as needed
What We're Looking For
  • Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • Audit experience strongly preferred; public accounting experience is a plus
  • Approximately 0-4 years of professional experience, with 1-2 years of audit experience being ideal
  • Recent accounting graduates with a strong interest in audit are encouraged to apply
  • Understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting, and audit concepts
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to communicate professionally with clients and colleagues
  • Comfortable working in an on-site, collaborative environment in the Orlando area
Nice to Have
  • Experience auditing nonprofit organizations
  • CPA license, CPA eligibility, or progress toward completing the CPA exam
  • Exposure to tax preparation
  • Experience with CCH or similar public accounting software
