Qualifications

Job description

We are seeking talented and collaborative professionals to serve as Audit Analysts on our growing team.The Audit Services Division conducts independent audits and investigations as part of the City Controller’smission to promote effective, efficient government and to provide impactful oversight fortheCity of Los Angeles. As an Audit Analyst, your work will directly influence government operations, public policy, and accountability.

What You Will Do

Audit Analysts will serve on a team that conducts performance audits on a wide variety of issues affecting local government, including financial management, infrastructure, public safety, transportation, and community services.

Audit Analysts are expected to perform a full range of performance audit and research services, and manage multiple assignments simultaneously. This will include evaluating program management and internal control risks, developing sound audit methodologies, conducting complex analyses and examining audit evidence, and contributing to development of audit reports.

Minimum Requirements

A Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized college or university in Business Administration, Economics, Finance, Accounting, Government, Political Science, Criminal Justice, Computer Science, or a related field, and at least one year of auditing or related experience is preferred.

Knowledge of professional auditing standards and audit management systems is preferred. A Juris Doctorate or Master’s Degree in business, accounting, economics, finance, public administration, public policy, or political science is preferred. Professional designation such as Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Certified Information System Auditor (CISA), or Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) is highly desirable.

This is an emergency appointment to a Civil Service position. It is a temporary appointment which requires that you successfully compete in the Civil Service examination process to become a permanent employee. No emergency appointment can exceed one year.
