Job SummaryObjective

The purpose of the Audiologist is to provide hearing health care services of the highest quality to exceed external and internal customer expectation and to support the efficiency and effectiveness of the medical office operations

Essential Job Functions

Administers comprehensive hearing and balance evaluations tests or examinations to patients to collect information on type and degree of impairment using specialized instruments and equipment Manages the audiology functiondepartment on a day to day basis ensuring adherence to established policies procedures work methods and standards practice Identifies assesses diagnoses manages and interprets test results related to disorders of human hearing balance and other neural systemsPerforms otoscopic examination and external ear canal management for the removal of cerumen in order to evaluate hearing or balance makes ear impressions fits hearing protection or prosthetic devices and monitors the continuous use of hearing aidsConducts and interprets behavioral electroacoustic or electrophysiologic methods used to assess hearing balance and neural system functionMeasures and interprets sensory and motor evoked potentials electromyography and other electrodiagnostic tests for purposes of neurophysiologic intraoperative monitoring and cranial nerve assessmentPerforms all service and duties in a manner consistent with company policies procedures and quality standardsSupervises professional and technical personnel who provide support functions to the practice of audiologyOversees the completion and quality of the work they assigned to Audiology Assistant and Audiology technicianManages employee performance through coaching appraising and motivating Sets staff performance goals and monitors progressDelegates the necessary authority and control or resources for employees to accomplish the objectives for which they are held accountableOrganizes the relationship between different functions within the department so that resources are used efficientlyCompletes documentation necessary to assure compliance with company policy regulatory compliance and to maintain accuracy of patient medical records Oversees activities to support effective marketing initiatives to increase awareness of available technology by educating patients staff and referring physicians which will result in increased sales at the care center level Reports patient test results to originating referral source or appropriate staff member for tracking and documentationMaintains patient records at all stages including initial evaluation and dischargeMonitors patients progress and discharge them from treatment when goals have been attainedAssistance with retrieval of patient information from electronic data systems or other sources are performed as neededOn an ongoing basis reviews company clinical procedures processes and systems and recommend improvements as necessaryWorks with multi disciplinary teams to assess and rehabilitate recipients of implanted hearing devicesConducts or direct research on hearing or speech topics and report findings to help in the development of procedures technology or marketingRecommends assistive devices according to patients needs or nature of impairmentsDevelops and supervise hearing screening programsInstructs patients or employers in how to avoid behavior patterns that lead to miscommunicationParticipates in conferences or training to update or share knowledge of new hearing or speech disorder treatment methods or technologiesMeasures noise levels in workplaces and conduct hearing protection programs

Required Education and Experience

Masters or Doctoral Degree in Audiology At least two years of experience in a clinical setting
