Qualifications

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following functions or tasks.

These essential job requirements must be performed successfully, upon the sole discretion of Keystone Health ("KH"), either with or without reasonable accommodations. 1. Defines patient hearing impairment by conferring with referring physician; selecting and administering electrophysiological and other relevant tests; operating diagnostic equipment; determining type and degree of hearing impairment and effects on comprehension and speech; interpreting audiometric diagnostic data; preparing written diagnostic reports.

2. Provides treatments by fitting hearing aids and other assistive devices; conducting auditory training and instruction in speech and lip reading; counseling patients and families; conducting programs in aural rehabilitation; guiding technical staff.

3. Maintains patient records by recording and updating evaluations, changes, progress and treatments.

4. Improves quality results by studying, evaluating, and re-designing processes; implementing changes; participating in research programs; evaluating new equipment, devices and techniques.

5. Provides auditory evaluations and education by conducting hearing loss screening programs.

6. Maintains supplies inventory by checking stock; anticipating needs; placing and expediting orders; verifying receipt.

7. Maintains legal and accreditation compliance by adhering to federal, state and local regulations, and professional standards.

8. Updates job knowledge by tracking trends in new techniques and approaches; participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.

9. Accomplishes organization goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: None.

QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are the minimum acceptable levels of knowledge, skills, and/or abilities that a job incumbent must possess to perform the essential duties in a satisfactory manner.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Graduate of an accredited program obtaining a Doctoral degree in Audiology. Have completed the required clinical skills and passed the national exam.

LICENSES and CERTIFICATION: American Speech-Language-Hearing Association Certification or American Board of Audiology Certification. Valid, unrestricted license for Pennsylvania. Current CPR (BLS) certification.

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Excellent ability to be able to relate to patients/clients and their families/caregivers the diagnosis of disabilities and audiologic rehabilitation plans. Explain technology and devices that assist children and adults with hearing loss and related disorders. Communicate diagnostic test results and interpret and propose treatment in a manner easily understood by their clients and other professionals.

COMPUTER SKILLS: Proficiency in computer technology and applications. Must be able to use Microsoft and EHR applications.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS AND REASONING ABILITY: Approach problems objectively and provide support to clients and their families (a client’s progress may be slow, so patience, compassion, and good listening skills are necessary). Strong orientation to detail and be able to work efficiently.

HUMAN RELATIONS: Excellent ability to c onsult with other professionals and paraprofessionals, the public, and policymakers about the effects of hearing loss, balance disorders, and tinnitus on persons with these disabilities.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Good health as reflected in attendance. Frequent walking, standing, lifting, bending, kneeling, crouching, and stooping are required. Routinely lift/pull/push objects weighing up to 25 pounds. Good visual and auditory acuity sufficient to assess patient safety and ability. Good hand/eye coordination needed. The ability to reach, balance, lift and assist patients who require assistance.

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND WORK SCHEDULE : Work schedule will be carried out according to the current operational requirements. Work is performed in the office. The work environment involves minimal exposure to hazards typical to a medical office environment, including potential exposure to infectious diseases and blood borne pathogens, chemical exposures, and fire, mechanical, and electrical hazards. Protective clothing and equipment are provided and required to be worn in potential exposure situations; Annual Self-Attestation of Fitness for Duty is required annually of all employees.
