Job summary

SFJAZZ is seeking an on-site Audio Technician (On-Call) to support performances and events at SFJAZZCenter and partner venues.

You will assist with load-ins/outs, patching, and equipment setup, and may mix FOH/Monitors or oversee RF coordination and ClearCom systems as needed. Evening and weekend shifts are common in this role.

Qualifications

• 2+ years in musical, theatrical or corporate audio environments.
• Ability to work, communicate and solve problems under pressure.
• Understanding of audio signal flow, patching and cabling.
• Understanding of live audio consoles and RF best practices.

Responsibilities

• Assist with onsite audio load-in/load-out for performances and rental events at SFJAZZCenter and partner venues.
• Patch monitors/front fills, microphones, backline and other stage elements.
• Provide FoH, Monitor or Broadcast mixes when needed.
• Provide RF coordination and deploy/manage ClearCom systems as required.
• Other duties as assigned.

Job description

SFJAZZ is searching for a skilled Audio Technician. The SFJAZZ Audio Technician, On-Call position provides crucial on-site audio support to SFJAZZ Artistic, Education and Rentals performances and events under the direction of the Director of Production and the Technical Director.

This position requires the Audio Technician to be familiar with the audio needs of music and corporate
style events. The Audio Technician is responsible for assisting in the setup and operation of a variety of audio systems within the SFJAZZ Center and for collaborating with the show teams on setup and execution of events.

Requirements:

• Assist with the onsite audio load-in and load-out for performances and rental events at SFJAZZCenter and offsite performances at partner venues. This includes placing and patching monitors, front fills, microphones, backline and other stage elements
• At times, provide FoH, Monitor or Broadcast mixes
• At times, provide RF coordination
• At times, deploy and manage ClearCom systems
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• 2+ Years working in musical, theatrical or corporate audio
• Ability to work, communicate and problem solve under pressure
• Understanding of audio signal flow, patching and cabling
• Understanding of live audio consoles
• Understanding of RF microphone best practices

Additional qualifications:

• Experience mixing FOH and Monitors in a live performance environmen
• Must be able to take direction and collaboratively in high pressure situations

Working Conditions:
This position is required to work a minimum of 1 shift per 60 days. SFJAZZ produces events and
performances at all times of the day/week. Evenings/weekends may be required.
