Job summary

Meyer Sound in Berkeley, CA is seeking a Product Validation Engineer to test and validate pre-production hardware, embedded software, and systems. You will design test plans, run electrical and environmental tests, validate firmware, and analyze results to ensure performance and reliability before volume production.

You will work closely with acoustical, electrical, mechanical, firmware and manufacturing engineers to certify designs and drive them toward release, including scripting and using AI

Qualifications

• BS degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 3+ years in product validation, design verification or test engineering.
• Hands-on with lab instruments: oscilloscopes, audio analyzers, signal generators, power analyzers, DMMs.
• Knowledge of analog and digital circuits, power electronics, and acoustics.
• Experience writing test plans, procedures and reports.
• Scripting for test automation (Python, MATLAB or LabVIEW).
• Strong troubleshooting and root-cause analysis.
• Excellent verbal and written communication across disciplines.
• Experience in professional audio, loudspeaker or amplifier development preferred.
• Familiarity with acoustic measurement tools (Audio Precision) preferred.
• Experience with networked audio protocols (AVB/Milan, Dante, AES67) preferred.
• Reliability engineering background (DFMEA, MTBF) preferred.
• Interest in live sound, cinema or installed audio.

Responsibilities

• Design and execute structured test plans, stress tests and characterization procedures for new products.
• Perform electrical and functional tests including power handling, amplifier performance, efficiency, noise, and protection.
• Conduct environmental and reliability tests: thermal cycling, humidity, vibration, drop, ingress, HALT/HASS.
• Validate firmware and control software, including network audio and control features.
• Identify failures, trace hardware, firmware and software bugs, and work with R&D to fix and re-test.
• Write scripts to automate test workflows and analyze large performance datasets.
• Use AI tools to accelerate test development and draft test reports.
• Work with manufacturing, quality assurance and suppliers to move validated designs into volume production.
• Maintain knowledge by attending educational workshops and reviewing publications.
• Assist with department maintenance, archiving, and data handling.
• Assist on various special projects as needed.
