Job summary

Meta is seeking Research Scientist Interns for the Media Foundation Core Audio team. The internship focuses on audio, speech, and ML research with applications across WhatsApp, Messenger, Instagram, Facebook, and Meta AI experiences.

Interns will work with researchers and engineers to define problems, build solutions, and influence product impact. Internships last 12–16 weeks or 24 weeks with flexible start dates.

Qualifications

• PhD in CS/AI/NLP/Speech or in progress with expected degree.
• Ability to obtain work authorization in the US at hire.
• Experience with Python, C++, Java or similar languages.
• Experience with deep learning frameworks (PyTorch or TensorFlow).
• Familiarity with ML architectures and research practices.

Responsibilities

• Perform research to advance audio, speech, and ML technologies.
• Design, train, and evaluate models for audio applications.
• Build reproducible evaluation pipelines with metrics and tests.
• Analyze model quality, latency, and stability under constraints.
• Collaborate with researchers and engineers; communicate plans and results.
• Publish research and contribute to product-relevant work.
