The City Reporter in New York seeks an entrepreneurial Audience Producer to broaden reach of award-winning reporting across platforms and deepen engagement with New Yorkers. The role centers on shooting and editing social video, monitoring metrics, and collaborating with the newsroom to promote our work.
You will manage social accounts daily, produce 1–3 short-form videos weekly, source footage with reporters, and build partnerships with publishers and community groups while helping plan events.

The City Reporter (formerly THE CITY) is New York City’s award-winning nonprofit, nonpartisan local news organization. Working across all five boroughs, our stellar journalists bring diverse skills and backgrounds to the task of covering New York’s neighborhoods, holding the powerful to account and making sense of the greatest city in the world.
The City Reporter’s investigative reporting has resulted in criminal indictments, political resignations and ethics inquiries. It has inspired new laws, influenced budget choices and reversed injustices. The City Reporter’s explanatory journalism has helped hundreds of thousands of New Yorkers to vote, keep their apartments warm, stay safe in dangerous weather and access public assistance.
The City Reporter’s Audience Producer will be responsible for getting our award-winning reporting in front of new audiences and for deepening our engagement with New Yorkers. Shooting and editing social video will be a central part of this job, along with monitoring audience metrics, maintaining multiple social media accounts, experimenting with the ways we can reach new people and assisting the newsroom as it expands the ways we promote and deliver our work.
