Job description

Description

Founded by Samer Habbas in 2006, the Law Offices of Samer Habbas & Associates has been serving justice and representing clients all across Southern California. For over a decade, our firm has lived up to its mission to help save people from legal injustice. When our clients face unexpected, life-altering accidents, it is our objective to help them through this difficult time as they get their lives back on track. We work hard so our clients can rest easy and take the time they need to heal and recover. Throughout our years of operation, we have delivered excellent client services with one-on-one communication, so that our clients are well informed and expertly represented.

We are not accepting resumes from third-party recruitment agencies for this position.

Why work with us? The Law Offices of Samer Habbas & Associates, PC embodies excellence in our craft. Over the years we have been ranked as a Best Law Firm by U.S. News Group, a proud member of the Million Dollar Advocates Forum, named to the National Trial Lawyers' Top 100, and an honored member of the National Academy of Personal Injury Attorneys. Working with us gives you the opportunity to work alongside and learn from some of the best Personal Injury Attorneys Southern California has to offer.

The Opportunity

We are seeking a passionate and knowledgeable Sexual Assault and Abuse Attorney to join our growing team. This person will work hands on from inception of a case to trial with the assistance of an enthusiastic and knowledgeable team. The ideal candidate will have experience litigating sex abuse cases and knowledge of personal injury law. An effective attorney at our firm will have the opportunity to be involved in active litigation, including taking and defending depositions, conducting discovery, attending mediation, arguing law and motion, and serving as either first or second chair in arbitration and/or jury trials. Our attorneys litigate cases and are provided all the resources to do so, all to obtain the client maximum recovery and not settle for less due to being handcuffed by a pre-litigation only firm. This is great opportunity to gain more exposure to a wide variety of sex abuse cases as we continue to grow this department.

Responsibilities
  • Handle all aspects of sexual assault/abuse prelitigation and litigation, including case strategy, discovery, motion practice, and trial preparation and execution
  • Represent clients in court, mediation, depositions, and arbitration, advocating effectively at each stage
  • Draft clear and compelling legal documents, including pleadings, motions, briefs, and settlement agreements
  • Communicate effectively and frequently with clients, opposing counsel, and courts, including engaging in regular settlement negotiations on behalf of clients
  • Manage caseload independently while collaborating with company attorneys and support staff
Requirements
  • J.D. from an accredited law school
  • Active California State Bar membership
  • Minimum 1-4 years of sexual abuse, assault, personal injury or similar law experience
  • Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and courtroom advocacy abilities
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
Benefits
  • Salary commensurate with your experience ($120,000.00 - $180,000.00)
  • Commission percentage on settled cases depending on experience
  • Quarterly and monthly bonuses
  • We have a company culture that fosters career growth and opportunity
  • We are a team – everyone is important and contributes to corporate growth and success
  • We believe continuing education is important, so we pay membership dues to various professional organizations, and we pay for MCLE courses. We pay your bar dues as well as any relevant continuing education opportunities you choose to attend
  • Comprehensive benefits package (medical, dental, vision and supplemental plans)
  • We recognize that time off to recharge is important, so we offer paid time off that starts to accrue on your first day of work.
  • Our generous 401k and profit share plan is designed with your future in mind
