Saving children.***## Job DescriptionProvides high-level, thoughtful and strategic legal advice and counseling on technology matters as assigned by the Chief Legal Officer, Senior Vice President, or Senior Counsel, primarily in technology transactions. Preferred candidates will have experience with and working knowledge of technology transactions for an organization that is on the cutting edge of technology and marketing, including drafting and revising: master services agreements; general terms and conditions agreements; terms of services (and other click-through terms); end user license agreements; information security standards provisions; statements of work for high-level technology implementations; data processing agreements and data privacy agreements; privacy policies, privacy notices; liability (including personally identifiable information and payment card industry data) provisions; artificial intelligence and machine learning agreements; cloud computing and SaaS agreements (including service level agreements); and infrastructure, platform and software as a service agreements (including service level agreements).Must have a willingness to learn and understand related ALSAC legal needs including, but not limited to, fundraising; state compliance issues and charitable registrations; gaming issues; raffle licenses; special event licenses; alcohol permits; business licenses; grant applications and compliance; insurance and risk management; property issues and disposition; special projects. The allocation of work and projects that this position will manage among these areas will be determined by the Chief Legal Officer, Senior Vice President, and/or Senior Counsel and may vary and will depend upon the needs of ALSAC. Identifies legal issues and works with internal departments to find solutions to legal challenges in a cooperative, efficient and effective manner. Represents ALSAC in dealing with other attorneys, vendors, entities, government officials, donors and other third-parties.**ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS**1. Uses a high degree of concentration and analytical ability to provide legal advice and counsel on matters as assigned by the Chief Legal Officer Legal in areas of law including, but not limited to fundraising; state compliance issues and charitable registrations; gaming issues; raffle licenses; special event licenses; alcohol permits; business licenses; grant applications and compliance; insurance and risk management; property issues and disposition; government relations and legislative monitoring; reviewing and drafting contracts; HR and policy related matters; technology and marketing matters; research projects; and special projects, and other areas impacting ALSAC. Uses a demonstrated higher level knowledge and competency in one or more areas of the law.2. Uses demonstrated ability to handle a higher-level issue from inception to completion skillfully; keeps supervisor appropriately informed and updated; understands which issues and decisions need to be elevated and which can be handled; and consistently handles these higher level issues appropriately. Works as a strategic business partner with internal departments and to represent the organization to third parties well. Ensures all polices and guidelines are followed and resolves any issues identified in review. Performs essential job functions in an established office environment under normal lighting and climate control tolerances.3. Uses strong interpersonal skills, listening skills, negotiating skills and the ability to work with a variety of individuals within and outside the organization and find solutions to legal issues and challenges. Works as a strategic business partner with internal departments and to represent the organization to third parties well. Identifies legal issues and work with internal departments to find solutions to legal challenges in a cooperative, efficient and effective manner. Recognizes and considers enterprise-wide impact if issues and solutions. Develops policies relating to industry-specific issues and internal practices and action plans for solving issues and assists in implementation.4. Must represent ALSAC and the Legal Department well and in a manner that allows for the successful and efficient resolution of matters and legal issues. Works with the Chief Legal Officer and other Senior Leadership, Legal, state officials, attorneys, entities, donors and third parties on matters of significance affecting ALSAC.5. Responsible for ensuring prompt, timely and complete responses to information and research requests submitted to the Legal Department and assigned to Corporate Attorney III - Regulatory Affairs. Generates written communication as necessary to ensure that legal conclusions are documented appropriately and disseminated to those with a need to know. Requires use of a personal computer.6. Maintains and develops expertise about laws, regulations, and court decisions affecting fundraising and other areas of law applicable to ALSAC.7. Uses a relatively high degree of concentration and legal knowledge to assist the Chief Legal Officer, Executive Director, and /or Sr Director – Legal in legal, managerial and administrative matters arising out of the diversity of issues affecting the organization.8. Use significant experience of practiced law; demonstrates a higher level of knowledge and competency in one or more areas of the law; Works independently to develop consistency, perform in-depth research and analysis.9. Uses knowledge of law to handle issues from inception to completion skillfully and with minimal supervision; Keeps supervisor appropriately informed and updated; understands which issues and decisions need to be elevated and which can be handled; identifies nuances in issues presented and the enterprise-wide impact of his/her advice and proposed solutions; and consistently handles these higher level issues appropriately.10. Works as a strategic business partner with internal departments and represents the organization to third parties well.**Job Requirements*** Requires knowledge and the ability to handle highly technical legal matters independently and with the discernment needed to keep his or her supervisor appropriately informed and updated; understands which issues and decisions need to be elevated and which can be handled; and consistently handles these higher level issues appropriately. Ideal candidate would have experience working with regulatory agencies and/or oversight bodies and/or in-house for a large organization and be able to interpret relevant regulations and contractual provisions and/or litigation and contract experience would be preferred.* Requires a demonstrated ability to practice law in a variety of areas and the ability to work through issues internally and externally for the good of the organization.
