Job description

Allan Koba Compliance Solutions is a growing Medicare Secondary Payer (MSP) compliance firm serving high-profile, globally recognized businesses, self-insured employers, third-party administrators, and defense counsel across the country. We specialize in Workers’ Compensation Medicare Set-Asides (WCMSAs), Medicare conditional payment resolution, and Section 111 reporting. We are looking for an attorney to join our Future Medical team to review medical records, build defensible Medicare Set-Aside allocations, and advise clients on MSP compliance. This is a fully remote position.

Job Summary

As an Attorney Compliance Manager, you will provide the legal analysis and judgment that support the Medicare Set-Asides we deliver. You will analyze applicable statutes and regulations, review medical, payment, and claim records, assess the future care Medicare is likely to expect, and advise clients on resolving settlements while protecting Medicare’s interests. The work is high-volume and deadline-driven. Our model is attorney-led: you spend your time on attorney work, supported by a strong team of nurses and operations staff and a state-of-the-art, AI-enabled platform.

Prior MSP experience is preferred but not required. We provide training on MSP requirements and CMS practices. Candidates with experience reviewing medical records or handling workers’ compensation matters may progress through training more quickly

Who Thrives Here
  • Composed and credible with clients, including when the conversation is difficult
  • Owners of their files who follow through without being chased
  • Curious about the medicine behind a file, not just the legal rule
  • Comfortable making sound judgment calls and explaining their reasoning
  • Proactive communicators who do well on a fully remote, collaborative team
  • Open to feedback and eager to learn new tools, including AI-enabled technology
Qualifications:
  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school (required)
  • Hands-on experience reviewing and understanding medical records, ideally through a workers’ compensation lens
  • Ideally 2–7 years of legal experience. Recent graduates with strong medical record or workers’ compensation exposure (clinics, externships, or a prior clinical or claims career) are also encouraged to apply
  • Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to advise clients and work with internal teams
  • Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple deadlines in a high-volume environment
  • Ability to work independently in a fully remote setting
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
Backgrounds That Translate Well
  • Workers’ compensation law, claimant or defense (strongly preferred)
  • Medical malpractice, personal injury, insurance defense, subrogation, Social Security disability, or claims handling
  • Medicare Secondary Payer compliance, Medicare Set-Asides, Section 111 reporting, or conditional payment and lien resolution
  • Admission to a state bar (preferred, not required)
  • Comfort with document management systems and AI-enabled tools
Responsibilities:
  • Review medical records, payment histories and claim documents to build accurate, defensible Medicare Set-Aside allocations.
  • Develop CMS submission strategy and recommend when and how to submit.
  • Respond to CMS and Workers’ Compensation Review Contractor (WCRC) development requests, amended review requests, and related correspondence.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor and primary point of contact for assigned clients.
  • Advise clients on MSP compliance risk in settlements, including Section 111 reporting and Medicare conditional payments.
  • Research and interpret federal statutes, regulations, and CMS guidance, along with state workers’ compensation rules.
  • Collaborate with nurses, operations staff, and fellow attorneys to move files through the workflow, meet delivery deadlines, and resolve client questions or issues promptly.
  • Manage a caseload with firm turnaround deadlines while maintaining accuracy and thorough documentation.
  • Support client onboarding, training, and presentations.
