Job summary

AvonRisk, the nation’s leading specialty risk manager for self-insured organizations, seeks an Attorney Compliance Manager to analyze Medicare Set-Asides, review statutes and CMS guidance, and advise clients on settlements while protecting Medicare’s interests. The role is high-volume and deadline-driven, with attorney-led support and a state-of-the-art, AI-enabled platform.

Prior MSP experience is preferred but not required. We provide training on MSP requirements and CMS practices.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school is required.
• Experience reviewing and understanding medical records, ideally through a workers’ compensation lens.
• 2–7 years of legal experience; new graduates with relevant exposure are encouraged to apply.
• Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication; ability to advise clients and collaborate with teams.

Responsibilities

• Review medical records, payment histories and claim documents to build accurate MSP allocations.
• Develop CMS submission strategies and recommend submission timing.
• Respond to CMS and WCRC development requests and related correspondence.
• Serve as a trusted advisor and primary contact for assigned clients.
• Advise clients on MSP compliance risk in settlements, including Section 111 reporting.
• Research and interpret federal statutes, CMS guidance, and state rules.
• Collaborate with nurses, operations staff and attorneys to move files through workflow.
• Manage a caseload with deadlines while maintaining thorough documentation.

As an Attorney Compliance Manager, you will provide the legal analysis and judgment that support the Medicare Set-Asides we deliver. You will analyze applicable statutes and regulations, review medical, payment, and claim records, assess the future care Medicare is likely to expect, and advise clients on resolving settlements while protecting Medicare’s interests. The work is high-volume and deadline-driven. Our model is attorney-led: you spend your time on attorney work, supported by a strong team of nurses and operations staff and a state-of-the‑art, AI-enabled platform.

Prior MSP experience is preferred but not required. We provide training on MSP requirements and CMS practices. Candidates with experience reviewing medical records or handling workers’ compensation matters may progress through training more quickly.

• Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to advise clients and work with internal teams
• Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple deadlines in a high-volume environment
• Ability to work independently in a fully remote setting
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite

• Advise clients on MSP compliance risk in settlements, including Section 111 reporting and Medicare conditional payments.
• Research and interpret federal statutes, regulations, and CMS guidance, along with state workers’ compensation rules.
• Collaborate with nurses, operations staff, and fellow attorneys to move files through the workflow, meet delivery deadlines, and resolve client questions or issues promptly.
• Manage a caseload with firm turnaround deadlines while maintaining accuracy and thorough documentation.
• Support client onboarding, training, and presentations.
