Job summary

City of Phoenix Office of Accountability and Transparency seeks an experienced attorney to provide legal services, advise the Director on day-to-day legal matters, and support major policy development. Responsibilities

Serves as legal advisor to the Office.
Assesses impact of City Charter, State Constitution, and laws on OAT operations.
Responsible for non-litigation and non-HR legal issues within the Office, as assigned by the Director.
Attends Civilian Review Board meetings and consults with Police Department leadership and City officials to interpret official actions and provide opinions.
Reviews and evaluates revisions to the City Charter, Code, and Ordinances.
Reviews and analyzes laws and policies from other jurisdictions with police oversight responsibilities.
Reviews proposed federal and state legislation affecting OAT and the Department and counsels leadership accordingly.
Appears before county, state, and federal bodies as directed.
Drafts and revises transactional documents, including intergovernmental agreements and contracts for goods and services, in line with laws and procurement rules.
Demonstrates continuous effort to improve operations and customer service.
Works more than forty hours in a week to perform duties, including weekends and holidays as required.
