Ideal candidates have 3–4 years of litigation experience, an active Utah Bar license (or ability to obtain), and a collaborative, billable-minded work ethic.

A well-established, boutique insurance defense firm in Salt Lake City is looking to add an Insurance Defense Attorney to their litigation team.

This is a firm that has built a reputation for high-quality work, strong client relationships, and a genuinely collegial culture - and right now, they have more work than their current team can handle. They're looking for someone who wants to step in, dig in, and grow with the firm.

About the Opportunity

• Boutique firm with 3 partners and 3 associates, located in a standalone office space just outside downtown Salt Lake City


• Primarily state court litigation, with some federal court matters


• Insurance defense caseload; medical malpractice experience is a plus but not required - the firm is happy to train motivated litigators on this niche


• Billable target: 1,850 hours


• Real, near-term path to partnership


• Relaxed, adult-oriented culture - team is in office 5x/week, but the firm trusts its attorneys to manage their workload, PTO, and appointments like professionals (no clock-watching)

What They're Looking For

• Litigation background with hands-on deposition and courtroom experience


• Trial experience is a plus, not a requirement


• Ideally 3-4 years of experience - ready to take on more responsibility and work with greater independence - but strong 1-3 year candidates will also be considered


• Active Utah Bar license, or ability to obtain one


• A team player with a strong work ethic and a good attitude - this firm values collaboration and willingness to help colleagues as much as raw billable numbers

Compensation & Growth

• After the 3rd/4th year, compensation shifts to a more performance-based structure tied to billables, independent case management, and overall contribution


• Annual discretionary bonus

Pay range and compensation package: The annual salary for this position is between $150,000 – $180,000 annually. Factors which may affect pay within this range include geography/market, skills, education, experience, and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
