Job summary

The University Veterinary School is seeking an experienced Attending Veterinarian to lead the Large Animal Medicine program and oversee care for USDA research species and agricultural animals used in teaching, research, and clinical activities.

Responsibilities include protocol development, regulatory compliance, collaboration with researchers, and supervising the large animal veterinary team, with teaching and on-call coverage as part of the role.

Qualifications

• DVM degree from an accredited institution.
• Board certification preferred (ACVIM/ACVS).
• 5+ years in large animal medicine, USDA research species experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide primary veterinary care for USDA research species and agricultural animals.
• Develop and implement animal care protocols compliant with regulations.
• Collaborate with faculty and researchers on large animal projects.
• Oversee animal import/export and transfer activities.
• Maintain accurate health records and regulatory compliance.
• Manage and supervise the large animal veterinary team.
