Job summary

UNTWN Uniontown Hospital is seeking a Food Service worker to prepare and serve meals for patients, employees and catering events, including assembling patient trays and stocking cafeteria areas.

Responsibilities include dishwashing, maintaining cafeteria cleanliness, operating the cash register, and assisting in clerical tasks; a high school diploma or GED and food service experience are preferred.

This position performs a wide variety of routine tasks to include kitchen, stores, patient tray line, employee cafeteria, and dish and pot washing areas.

Core Duties and Responsibilities

• Prepares and cooks foods for patients, employees and catering functions, including measuring and mixing ingredients, adjusting thermostats, monitoring food at all levels, etc.
• Participates in the assembly and service of patient and non-patient meals, including stocking and serving the patient tray lines, taking food temperatures, preparing and serving in cafeteria and special functions, etc.
• Cleans and sanitizes dishes and pots.
• Operates and maintains cash register. Ensures that register skips balance.
• Sets up and replenishes salad bar. Maintains cleanliness for cafeteria.
• Provides patient service related clerical duties.
• Assists in cleaning and maintaining equipment and work areas.
• Verbalizes the specific ages of patients served within the Hospital and can make application when necessary.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements

• Frequent walking, standing, bending, squatting, reaching, and twisting
• Ability to lift, push, pull up to 50 pounds.

Working Environment

1 Standard cafeteria environment with exposure to excessive noise, heat, and cold.

Skills and Abilities

• Ability to attend to more than one aspect of a situation simultaneously.
• Efficiency in processing of verbal information, either in written or spoken form is a major requirement and prerequisite of the job.
• Some independent thought, planning or origination of options and solutions is necessary.
• Ability to apply principles of reasoning and problem solving to resolve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
