Educational Service Center of Central Ohio is seeking an Attendance Success Mentor to support Grove City schools, focusing on improving student attendance and family engagement. The role reports to the Building Principal and serves Pleasant View Middle School and Beulah Park Middle School.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree required; bachelor’s degree preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor students' attendance with the building principal.
  • Visit students' residences to promote positive attendance and family engagement.
  • Maintain records of meetings, calls, emails, and home visits.
  • Collaborate with staff and support personnel on chronically absent students.
  • Prepare and submit monthly attendance reports.
  • Counsel students on absenteeism and tardiness and identify underlying issues.
  • Submit written reports to the principal.
  • Model professional conduct and attire.
  • Participate in professional development and required meetings.
  • Protect confidentiality of records and comply with legal constraints.
  • Follow Ohio school laws and district policies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Description

Reports to: Building Principal

Location: Pleasant View Middle School and Beulah Park Middle School

Salary Range: $45,000 - $55,000

Summary: The Attendance Success Mentor supports the educational process by ensuring students develop and maintain good attendance practices and that parents support the attendance requirements of the District.

Qualifications
  • Associate's Degree (Bachelor's Degree preferred.)
  • Use of a vehicle for transportation and a valid driver's license
  • Community oriented (Experience with youth or school programs preferred.)
  • Ability to work with the community, including parents, students, administration, and school staff
  • Ability to work independently
  • Excellent integrity and good moral character and initiative
  • Enthusiasm and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to community effectively in English, both orally and in writing
Job Responsibilities
  • Work closely with the building principal in the monitoring of students' attendance.
  • Report to assigned school following the same procedures used for other school employees assigned to the school.
  • Make visits as needed to students' residences to develop healthy, positive family attitudes toward academic success, attendance at school, and student growth and development.
  • Maintain records of meetings, communications (phone calls, emails, etc.), and home visits.
  • Confer and collaborate regularly with school staff and other support personnel regarding students who are chronically absent/tardy.
  • Collate/compile monthly attendance reports.
  • Counsel students regarding absenteeism and tardiness to gain their cooperation and identify any underlying problems that may warrant intervention by other professional staff members.
  • Submit written reports to the building principal as requested.
  • Serve as a role model for students and staff in demonstrating positive attitudes, appropriate attire, personal grooming, and an effective work ethic.
  • Participate in appropriate professional development and attend all required meetings.
  • Protect the confidentiality of records and information gained as part of exercising professional duties and use discretion in sharing such information within legal confines.
  • Adhere to Ohio school law, State Board of Education rules and regulations, Board of Education policies and regulations, and school regulations and procedures.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the building principal or State and Federal Programs Coordinator.
Performance Evaluations

Job performance is evaluated according to the policy provisions adopted by the Governing Board of the EDUCATIONAL SERVICE CENTER OF CENTRAL OHIO.

The employees are responsible for maintaining proper certification/licensure and initiating the renewal process in sufficient time to receive the updated certificate/license before the present certificate/license expires.??
