Qualifications

  • Strong knowledge of TCP/IPv4, DHCP, DNS, Ethernet, Subnetting, SSL, WLAN security.

Responsibilities

  • Provision, configure, and maintain routing, switching, DHCP, and RADIUS infrastructure.
  • Execute routine firmware upgrades, hardware replacements, and network adds/moves/changes.
  • Collaborate with Network Engineers on capacity planning, network design, and core infrastructure expansion.
  • Maintain topology diagrams, asset records, and technical documentation.
  • Administer Cisco Webex Calling: provisioning, updates, and settings.
  • Manage Cisco/Meraki cloud wireless environments across regions.
  • Primary escalation point for wireless connectivity and link issues.
  • Monitor guest network access and wireless density for campus needs.
  • Use monitoring tools to plan and optimize wireless network.

Description

A.T. Still University (ATSU) is seeking a full-time, exempt Analyst Network Technologies on the Kirksville, MO campus. This position reports to the Network Engineer. The Analyst Network Technologies will monitor and maintain ATSU network systems; plan and execute ATSU network hardware and software upgrades; keep inventory of hardware, software, and support contracts; provide network-related escalation support to ATSU Service Desk and act as backup support contact for Network Engineer; research and recommend technical solutions to meet ATSU strategic business and academic requirements; collaborate with Network Engineer to build out and expand network capacity as required; work with third-party engineers to troubleshoot and support ATSU network infrastructures; audit the security of various types of network devices and configurations such as network switches, routers, and wireless systems; contribute to ITS projects; document network functions using network diagrams and video; work with the team to increase operational efficiency and reduce costs.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Provision, configure, and maintain routing, switching, DHCP, and RADIUS authentication infrastructure.
  • Execute routine firmware upgrades, hardware replacements, and network adds/moves/changes.
  • Collaborate with Network Engineers on capacity planning, network design, and core infrastructure expansion.
  • Maintain accurate topology diagrams, asset management records, and technical documentation.
  • Administer Cisco Webex Calling platforms, managing user provisioning, device updates, and system settings.
  • Manage, optimize, and troubleshoot Cisco and Meraki cloud wireless environments across all regions.
  • Act as the primary escalation point for all enterprise wireless connectivity and point-to-point link issues.
  • Streamline guest network access and monitor wireless density to support evolving campus needs.
  • Utilize Monitoring and Prediction tools to plan and optimize wireless network.
  • Proactively monitor 300+ network devices across 5 geographical regions using SolarWinds NCM, NetFlow, and multi-terabit packet capture tools.
  • Audit network configurations to ensure compliance with security baselines and organizational best practices.
  • Track bandwidth and power utilization (UPS/PSU) to proactively resolve capacity constraints.
  • Install, rack, stack, and cable core network infrastructure, compute, UPS systems, and Out-of-Band (OOB) solutions.
  • Oversee physical security technology, including access control systems, NVRs, and IP cameras.
  • Manage cabling contractors and direct third-party vendors.
  • Patch network gear and equipment, run cabling if required.
  • Perform physical tasks (lifting 50+ lbs, climbing ladders) and participate in a 24/7 emergency response rotation.
  • Coordinate with ISPs and vendor support engineers (e.g., Cisco TAC) to resolve outages and complex trouble tickets.
  • Audit infrastructure support contracts regularly to prevent coverage gaps and eliminate budget inefficiencies.
  • Other duties as assigned
Requirements
  • Bachelor degree in IT related major or equivalent experience with networking technology.
  • Cisco technologies CCNA certification required, CCNP Enterprise level knowledge of switching technologies required.
  • Knowledge of TCP/IPv4, DHCP, DNS, Ethernet, Subnetting, SSL, 802.11ac/ax, Wireless Security, Cisco Wireless, Cisco Converged Access, Meraki Wireless, RADIUS.
  • Knowledge of wireless supplicant troubleshooting, Microsoft operating systems, Mac OS X, iOS, Android, Network Security Concepts.
  • Ability to properly diagnose and solve practical problems in the field (in some cases under high pressure).
  • Ability to read, analyze and accurately interpret technical literature. Example: Cisco Release Notes and Configuration Guides.
  • Ability to clearly communicate and document technical information.
  • Ability to determine and describe the flow of data through a network using the first 3 layers of the OSI model.
  • Detail oriented.
  • Quick to initiate and take responsibility for a task or issue without procrastination.
  • The ability to work as a team member.
  • Exhibits strong communication skills and communicates easily with personnel inside and outside ATSU.
  • Ability to solve problems quickly and thoroughly.
  • Capable of organizing numerous project tasks in an optimal and logical manner.
  • Lifting, carrying and sometimes working in physically challenging environments. Examples include: Lifting and installing large network switches or carrying and installing heavy (+50lbs) UPS batteries. Climbing a 12ft ladder to install wireless access points on the ceiling.
