Job summary

City of Flagstaff is hiring six part-time Athletics Officials to officiate adult leagues and ensure games are fair, safe, and run smoothly. Prior officiating experience is a plus, and training is available for those with strong rules knowledge.

The position is part-time and temporary with no benefits, requiring weekend/evening availability and the ability to pass rule exams. You will represent the City of Flagstaff in a professional and energetic manner.

• Willingness to pass written/practical exams on the rules.

• Officiates games following established league regulations.

If you’re passionate about sports and have a solid understanding of basketball, volleyball, and/or softball rules, this is a great opportunity to get involved in a new way. In this role, you’ll officiate a variety of adult leagues, helping ensure games are fair, safe, and run smoothly.

We’re looking for individuals who can confidently referee, understand the responsibilities of being an official, and bring energy and professionalism to every game. While prior officiating experience is a plus, we’re happy to train those who have a strong knowledge of the rules.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING

• General knowledge of the rules of basketball, volleyball, and/or softball, how to referee a game, and the responsibilities associated with the game as an official.

DESIRED EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING

• 1-2 years’ experience officiating basketball, volleyball, or softball games.
• Arizona Interscholastic Association certificate.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

• Ability to work weekends and evenings as assigned.
• Required to obtain proper equipment and uniforms as needed.
• Ability to pass a written and/or practical exam on the rules of basketball and/or volleyball.
• Regular attendance is an essential function of this job to ensure continuity.
