Job summary

Prisma Health is seeking an Athletic Trainer to provide services to athletes at appointed high schools. You will assess and treat athletic injuries using current clinical techniques and document progress in the EMR, collaborating with physicians, rehab teams, coaches and families.

This role emphasizes safety, compliance and quality care within an inter-disciplinary team. Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Physiology or Athletic Training is required, with a Master’s preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Physiology, Athletic Training OR Physical Education w/ Athletic Training emphasis.
• Master’s degree preferred.
• BLS required.
• SC LLR Licensure as an Athletic Trainer required for team members working in South Carolina.
• BOC (Board of Certification) for Athletic Training required.

Responsibilities

• Provides athletic training services to athletes at appointed high school and any other assigned school(s) or site.
• Utilizes appropriate, sound and up-to-date clinical techniques to effectively assess and treat athletic injuries.
• Demonstrates basic knowledge of diagnosis/conditions seen in Athletic Training.
• Selects, performs and interprets ATC examinations of appropriate systems.
• Performs and interprets standardized assessments as determined by appropriateness of athlete.
• Identifies actual or potential problems that would impact the Athletic Training regimen and overall inter-disciplinary care.
• Establishes treatment plans and goals based on initial assessment while considering age, education level, cultural background, and other services.
• Communicates with physicians, rehab, parent/guardian, athletic directors, coaches; documents athlete status in EMR.
• Provides oversight and mentoring to new team members and students.
• Completes annual mandatory computer-based training and required employee health testing.
• Represents organization at outreach events and attends coaches/parent meetings when available.
• Coordinates pre- and post-participation exams and acquires protective equipment for athletes as needed.
• Maintains confidentiality of patient information and complies with policies.
