The Athletic Trainer provides care to both healthy athletes and those who have impairments, functional limitations, or changes in physical function and health status as a result of injury, illness, or other causes. The Athletic Trainer works with occasional guidance by collaborating with the health care team using modalities, personnel, equipment and supply resources. The Athletic Trainer works in prevention of injury and illness, identification and evaluation of injury, referral and teaming coordination with appropriate healthcare team members and settings, as well as rehabilitation recovery of the injured or ill athlete. The Athletic Trainer is consistently communicative with other members of the health care team, coaches, strength and conditioning staff, parents, and athletes regarding injury illness prevention and management.
