Job summary

Illinois Bone and Joint Institute, LLC seeks a Certified Athletic Trainer to work across clinical, collegiate, and high school settings in a collaborative orthopedic practice. You will provide patient-centered care, develop rehab plans with physicians and therapists, and participate in community outreach and education.

Applicants should hold a CAATE-accredited degree (or Master's), BOC Certification, and IL licensure eligibility.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from a CAATE-accredited program (prior to 2022) or Master's degree in Athletic Training.
  • BOC Certified Athletic Trainer; Illinois Licensure in good standing (or eligible).
  • CPR/AED certification required.

Responsibilities

  • Promote and provide excellent patient care
  • Develop positive relationships with IBJI physician teams
  • Communicate with physicians, staff, coaches and parents about patient care plans
  • Develop rehabilitation plans with physician and physical therapist input
  • Maintain patient documentation in EMR and complete daily paperwork
  • Attend continuing education to maintain Illinois license
  • Provide coverage at games, practices, and tournaments as scheduled

Currently IBJI is searching for strong Certified Athletic Trainers to work in clinical, collegiate & high schools settings, within a collaborative healthcare model.

Summary

IBJI Certified Athletic Trainers (ATC) are an integral part of a fast-paced orthopedic practice that must excel in IBJI’s core values of patient-centric care, musculoskeletal care, and teamwork. The role of the ATC functions as a liaison between patients, athletes, physicians, physical therapists, and administration. All responsibilities should be performed while maintaining the highest standard of care and integrity in order to provide the best community experience possible.

Responsibilities
  • Promote and provide excellent patient care
  • Develop positive relationships with the physician teams at IBJI
  • Communicate with physicians, clinical staff, coaches and parents regarding patient conditions, plan of care, treatments, and protocols
  • Develop rehabilitation and treatment regimens in conjunction with physician and physical therapist recommendations
  • Proper referral of patients for appropriate diagnostic and follow-up procedures and subsequent injury tracking
  • Compliance with completing daily paperwork and maintaining patient documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR)
  • Participates in programs sponsored by IBJI: clinical meetings, mentoring, clinical educator, special interest groups, community outreach
  • Prevention, recognition, evaluation, triage, rehabilitation, and reconditioning of all athletic injuries for patients and athletes of varying ages
  • Demonstrates good understanding of proper body mechanics
  • Ability to perform DME brace fitting and educate patients with proper donning and doffing
  • Outreach ATCs are expected to provide medical coverage at games, practices and/or tournaments. These events will be scheduled with the Athletic Training Regional Manager and may include weekend and/or evening events
  • Return voicemail and email messages in a timely manner
  • Attend continuing education seminars to keep Illinois license in good standing
  • Always follow HIPAA/OSHA guidelines and regulations
  • Other duties may be assigned at any time by the supervisor
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment
  • Other duties as assigned
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree from a CAATE-accredited program (prior to 2022) or Master's degree in Athletic Training
Certifications/Licensure
  • BOC Certified Athletic Trainer
  • Hold or eligible for Illinois Licensure as an Athletic Trainer in good standing
Experience
  • Recent graduates are welcome to apply
  • Strong rehabilitation skill set preferred
  • Additional manual therapy or sports performance background preferred, but not required
  • Experience working in a physician or physical therapy clinic preferred, but not required
Technical Skills
  • CPR/AED certification required
Soft Skills
  • Professional and effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Able to multi-task and work in a fast paced environment
  • Able to function as a team leader
Physical Requirements
  • Stand or sit for extended periods of time
  • Ability to lift greater than 25 pounds
  • Demonstrates good understanding of proper body mechanics for lifting, pulling, pushing
  • Ability to be stand and sit for sequences of time greater than 30 minutes
  • Ability to work on a computer for lengthy times during the day
