Job summary

Grapevine-Colleyville ISD in Grapevine, Texas is seeking an Athletic Trainer for Grapevine High School to plan, coordinate, and supervise the athletic training program for student-athletes.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and implement comprehensive athletic injury and illness prevention program for student-athletes.
  • Establish and maintain effective communication with students, parents, medical and paramedical personnel, coaches and other staff.
  • Provide physical conditioning training to student-athletes.
  • Prepare athletes for games and practices by conducting evaluations and using protective devices as needed.
  • Identify acute injuries and provide first-aid triage, including deciding if further medical attention is required.
  • Determine therapeutic goals and objectives for individual athletes.
  • Apply therapeutic modalities and instruct athletes on proper equipment use.
  • Evaluate and record rehabilitation progress and determine progression/return to play.
  • Coordinate scheduling of athletic physical examinations and screening.
  • Compile and maintain medical and treatment records as required.
  • Display strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Coordinate UIL safety and concussion education training.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Job Title: Athletic Trainer Wage/Hour Status: Exempt

Reports to: Campus Athletic Coordinator/Director of Athletics Pay Grade: Pay Grade 104 (195 days) ($5000 Stipend)

Primary Purpose:

To plan, coordinate, and supervise all components of an athletic training program for student-athletes. Also, work under the direction of a team physician to carry out activities in the areas of prevention, evaluation, emergency treatment, physical reconditioning, and rehabilitation of injuries.

Qualifications:

Education/Experience:

Bachelor’s degree from accredited college or university

Valid license from Texas Advisory Board of Athletic Trainers

Valid Texas teaching certificate with a required endorsement for subject/level assignment

Minimum student teaching experience or approved internship

NATA Certification (preferred)

Special Knowledge/Skills:

Knowledge of therapeutic modalities and ability to apply appropriate treatment to treat student athletic injuries

Ability to instruct and supervise student athletes and assistants

Major Responsibilities and Duties:
  • Plan and implement comprehensive athletic injury and illness prevention program for student-athletes.
  • Establish and maintain effective communication with students, parents, medical and paramedical personnel, coaches and other staff.
  • Provide physical conditioning training to student-athletes.
  • Prepare athletes for games and practices by conducting evaluations and using tape, wraps, splints, braces, and other protective devices as needed.
  • Identify acute injuries and provides first-aid triage, including assessing injuries and deciding whether an athlete should seek further medical attention and should discontinue participation in the athletic event.
  • Determine therapeutic goals and objectives for individual athletes.
  • Apply therapeutic modalities and instruct athletes on the proper use of exercise equipment.
  • Evaluate and record the rehabilitation progress of athletes. Develop criteria for progression and return to practice and competition.
  • Coordinate scheduling of athletic physical examinations and screening.
  • Compile, maintain, and file all physical and computerized reports, records, and other documents including medical, accident, and treatment records as required.
  • Display excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Coordinate the UIL safety training for students, coaches, and parent
  • Coordinate the UIL concussion education training
  • All other duties as assigned.
