Job description
Athletic Trainer - Football (Vanderbilt University)

Provides services to intercollegiate athletes who have impairments, functional limitations, or changes in physical function and health status resulting from injury, illness, or other causes, with occasional guidance. Collaborates actively with the healthcare/educational team, including the Director of Sports Medicine, team physicians, Vanderbilt University Medical Center specialists, and athletic trainers, to meet patient care, outcomes, and system treatment and rehabilitation goals. Serves as a liaison for VUMC to the university by providing education, awareness, and sports medicine services.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Serve as a staff Athletic Trainer assigned to the Football team.
  • Collaborate in establishing athletic training and sports medicine services, develop plans of care, and coordinate care delivery while anticipating the needs of patients/athletes across the continuum.
  • Analyze comprehensive information related to patient/athlete care to determine functional capabilities within defined activity levels.
  • Utilize athletic training skills and resources to evaluate functional capabilities, promote safe participation, and apply interventions to ensure effective outcomes.
  • Employ strategies to promote health and maintain a safe environment.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support program development and implementation.
  • Operate motor vehicles to provide on-site support at various locations.
