## ***Current Employees: If you are currently employed at any of the Universities of Wisconsin, log in to Workday to apply through the internal application process.***## **Position Title:**Athletic Trainer## **Job Category:**Academic Staff## **Employment Type:**Terminal (Fixed Term)## **Job Profile:**Athletic Trainer## **Job Duties:**The Athletic Trainer provides comprehensive healthcare services for UW Oshkosh student-athletes. The anticipated position will serve as Lead Athletic Trainer for Men's Football and Primary Athletic Trainer for Women's Flag Football, as long as preferred requirements are met. If preferred requirements are not met, sport assignments will be assigned by Athletic Training Director per candidates strengths and experiences. This role includes injury prevention, clinical evaluation, emergency care, treatment, and rehabilitation of athletic injuries, all in collaboration with medical professionals and athletic staff. The Athletic Trainer also plays an active role in education, communication, and the implementation of health and safety protocols while providing a positive and respectful clinical environment for all athletes. ## **Key Job Responsibilities:****Policy Implementation & Education** • Enforces and follows policies and procedures of athletic training room. • Attends continuing education and professional development symposiums, seminars, workshops, and classes to maintain certification and licensure. • Clinically supervises athletic training students assigned in compliance with CAATE Standards and Guidelines, State of Wisconsin Licensure and ATEP policies and procedures. • Assists the Athletic Training Director with the development of a new policy or modification of an existing policy. • Attends periodic Sports Medicine In-Services that will review current program policies and procedures along with emergency action plan procedures.**Summer Responsibilities (June 1 – July 31)**The following are an example of additional duties that may be assigned over the summer to an Athletic Trainer at UW Oshkosh. • Collaborates with each Head Coach to obtain roster of any new/transfer student-athletes that plan on attending and competing at UW Oshkosh beginning in the new academic year. • Creates ATS medical account for each athlete. • Provide athletes with all necessary medical forms to complete. • Send ATS video that details directions of all medical information that needs to be completed. • Track information completed by athlete and send periodic reminders. • Be available to answer questions student-athletes/ parents have in regard to new athlete medical information required.**Athlete Medical Compliance & Preparation** • Ensures each athlete has required physical exams, health insurance coverage and necessary medical information completed and entered into ATS prior to participating in any team or physical activity. • Coordinates and ensures all athletes on team have completed baseline concussion tests (Computerized Impact Test and SWAY Balance Test) prior to any pre-season team or physical activity. • Presents all pertinent medical information to athletes and provides adequate time for athletes to ask medical questions at team’s pre-season NCAA eligibility meeting. • Submits any post-season medical hardships for athletes to WIAC office. • Updates and organizes all athlete medical files.**Event & Facility Coverage** • Responsible for all home event medical preparation (ex. Ambulance, water, ice, towels, communicating emergency action plan, etc.) • Provides as needed athletic training room, practice and event coverage for athletic training staff that are on vacation or who may be sick. • Assists as needed for any WIAC or NCAA Championship events hosted by UW Oshkosh. • Assists with the detailed cleaning of all Sports Medicine Clinics.**Injury Evaluation, Treatment & Documentation** • Administers first aid and emergency care to injured athletes in practices and competitions. • Evaluates and manages athletic injuries suffered by athletes during practices and competitions. • Designs and supervises all rehabilitation programs for athletic injuries. • Refers more significant athletic injuries to emergency room, Team Physician or Athletic Training Director. • Documents and maintains up-to-date and accurate injury and treatment records in ATS. • Provides medical coverage for all home team events and travels as assigned by Athletic Training Director.**Department:**Athletics**Compensation:**Starting at $43,888.00 and commensurate with experience.**Required Qualifications:*** Bachelor's degree in athletic training or related field.* Certified Athletic Trainer by NATA Board of Certification or passed exam at time of hire.* Currently licensed or eligible for State of Wisconsin Licensure in Athletic Training at time of hire.* Currently certified or eligible for CPR/ AED for Professional Rescuers at time of hire.* Willingness to travel and work irregular hours, nights, weekends and holidays as necessary.**Preferred Qualifications:*** Master's degree in athletic training* Three to five years of athletic training work experience in the collegiate setting.* Experience working with men's football or women's flag football.* Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and project a positive attitude.* Ability to perform essential functions of the position with or without minimal supervision.## **How to Apply:**Applicants must submit the following documents using the online application:* Resume* Cover Letter*\*Please use your application materials to speak to each of the qualifications for this position as listed above.
